Traditional Finite Rate of Innovation (FRI) theory has considered the problem of sampling continuous-time signals. This framework can be naturally extended to the case where the input is a discrete-time signal. Here we present a novel approach which uses both the traditional FRI sampling scheme, based on the annihilating filter method, and the fact ...

Do firms always choose the cheapest suitable inputs, or can group attitudes affect their choices? To investigate this question, we examine the deterioration of relations between the United States and France from 2002–2003, when France's favorability rating in the US fell by 48 percentage points.

In this paper we present a new approach to deblur the effect of atmospheric turbulence in the case of long range imaging. Our method is based on an analytical formulation, the Fried kernel, of the atmosphere modulation transfer function (MTF) and a framelet based deconvolution algorithm.

FRI Sampling With Arbitrary Kernels [PDF]
This paper addresses the problem of sampling non-bandlimited signals within the Finite Rate of Innovation (FRI) setting. We had previously shown that, by using sampling kernels whose integer span contains specific exponentials (generalized Strang-Fix conditions), it is possible to devise non-iterative, fast reconstruction algorithms from very low-rate ...

Acrylamide formation in air-fried versus deep and oven-fried potatoes
IntroductionPresent study investigates the effects of different home pre-treatment processes and cooking techniques on the acrylamide content of fried potatoes.MethodsPotato sticks were prepared in two different pre-treatment ways (washing and soaking) and cooked with three other techniques (air frying, deep frying, and oven frying).

HEALTHY AGING WAS ONCE thought to be a contradiction in terms. Enter James Fries, a professor of medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. Early in his career, he foresaw a society in which the active and vital years of life would increase in length, the onset of morbidity would be postponed, and the total amount of lifetime disability would ...
