Breakage of medicinal tablets is a source of complaint and is an economic waste. It is desirable, therefore, to formulate and produce tablets which will survive handling in production and in distribution. Estimation of the ability of tablets to survive such handling has been difficult because of the lack of an adequate test to measure the property.

Journal of Soil Science, 1981
Summary Soil friability is defined and a method for its measurement is developed from the theory of brittle fracture of soil aggregates. The variation in friability with soil water content is in good agreement with the results of tillage experiments done by earlier workers. It is found that Urrbrae and Strathalbyn sandy loams are most

Callus friability and somatic embryogenesis inHevea brasiliensis [PDF]
The influence of plant growth regulators, sucrose, calcium and various macronutrient media on callus friability and somatic embryogenesis was investigated inHevea brasiliensis Mull. Arg. Friable and embryogenic calli were spontaneously formed in two rubber tree clones (PR 107 and RRIM 600) on the Medium for Hevea (MH), with 3,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic ...

Optimizing the Friability of a Tablet Formulation
Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 1987AbstractThe impact on tablet friability caused by the loss-on-drying of the granulation, the granule-size distribution, the lubricant concentration, the compression force, and the pre-compression was scrutinized in a factorially designed experiment. A reduction of friability was obtained by reducing the deviation of the granulation loss-on-drying from ...

Validation and applications of an expedited tablet friability method
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2015The harmonized monograph on tablet friability test in United States Pharmacopeia (USP), European Pharmacopeia (Pharm. Eur.), and Japanese Pharmacopeia (JP) is designed to assess adequacy of mechanical strength of a batch of tablets. Currently, its potential applications in formulation development have been limited due to the batch requirement that is ...

Determining Friability of Plant Materials
Pharmaceutical Chemistry Journal, 2003Manufacturing tablets with preliminary granulation of the components is a complex, energy-consuming process involving wetting and heating stages, taking a long time and requiring large working rooms. Such operations may significantly influence both the therapeutic efficacy and the bioaccessibility of the active substances [1].

Controlled Displacement Technique for Measuring Soil Friability
Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1995Abstract An important physical property of agricultural soils is their friability or tendency to fracture into small fragments when tilled. Because friability varies greatly with soil water content, simple tests to determine the point of maximum friability are needed ...

Special features in synthesizing diamond crystals of increased friability
Journal of Crystal Growth, 1974Abstract Results of investigation of the influence of heating rate on synthesizing diamonds of increased friability, using a resistance method of heating the reaction mixture are presented. The quantity of synthesized diamond is shown to be greatly dependent on the heating rate.

Given an integer [Formula: see text], let [Formula: see text] stand for its largest prime factor, setting [Formula: see text]. We introduce the arithmetic function [Formula: see text] (with [Formula: see text]) and call it the index of friability of the integer n.

Excess Tissue Friability During CO2 Laser Vaporization of Nodular Amyloidosis
Dermatologic Surgery, 1999Nodular amyloidosis is a rare cutaneous disorder for which many treatments have been described, including carbon dioxide (CO2) laser vaporization. We describe the intraoperative tissue effects encountered during successful treatment of nodular amyloidosis with CO2 laser surgery. Two nodules of cutaneous amyloid on the nose of a patient were vaporized ...
