Modelling of friction stir spot welding
Friction stir spot welding (FSSW) is a solid-state welding process which is especially useful for joining precipitation-hardened aluminium alloys that undergo adverse property changes during fusion welding. It also has potential as an effective method for solid-state joining of dissimilar alloys.

Experimental Study on Strength of Friction Stir Spot Welding (FSSW) [PDF]
Friction Stir Spot Welding (FSSW) is a derivative of the friction stir welding (FSW), novel variant of the "linear" FSW process. It creates a spot, lap-weld without bulk melting with vertical movement of a non-consumable tool during the welding operation
