On the Discontinuous Galerkin method for Friedrichs Systems in Graph Spaces

open access: yes, 2016
Solutions of Friedrichs systems are in general not of Sobolev regularity and may possess discontinuities along the characteristics of the differential operator. We state a setting in which the well-posedness of Friedrichs systems on polyhedral domains is ensured, while still allowing changes in the inertial type of the boundary.

Future Perspective On Materials, Electrochemistry, and Cell Concepts for Redox‐Mediated CO2 Direct Air Capture Scenarios

open access: yesChemistryEurope, EarlyView.
Direct air capture (DAC) of carbon dioxide (CO2) emerges as a key strategy for climate crisis mitigation. Redox‐mediated electrochemical carbon capture offers a promising route for energy‐efficient DAC. This perspective discusses recent advances in the field, highlighting key challenges, such as oxygen interference at low CO2 concentrations, and ...

The Importance of the Design of Porous Transport Layers: Unveiling the Interplay Between Structure, Mechanics, and Electrochemistry in Anion Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysis

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
Porous transport layers (PTLs) play a vital role in enhancing anion exchange membrane water electrolysis (AEMWE) efficiency. This study demonstrates how a cost‐effective, elastic nickel‐based knitted wire mesh PTL improves performance by optimising compression distribution, reducing interfacial resistance, and enabling effective gas transport.

Advancing Bidirectional Photoswitching of Norbornadienes: Exclusively Light‐Induced Interconversion of Imide‐ and Ortho‐Connected Norbornadiene‐Perylene Diimide Hybrids

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Bidirectional Photoswitching: We report norbornadiene‐perylene diimide (NBD‐PDI) dyads with diverse connectivities, enabling exclusively photoinduced NBD/QC switching. Our findings reveal high conversion yields in both directions, paired with good thermal‐ and photo‐stability.

Low‐ Temperature Transformations in Amorphous Silica Bilayers on Ru(0001) After Crystal‐Glass Transition: Closer Look

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
In this work we report on the ring opening of the silica film as studied by fast‐scanning scanning tunneling microscopy together with density functional calculations. The results reveal the influence of the metal support on the transformation energetics.
