On the Discontinuous Galerkin method for Friedrichs Systems in Graph Spaces

open access: yes, 2016
Solutions of Friedrichs systems are in general not of Sobolev regularity and may possess discontinuities along the characteristics of the differential operator. We state a setting in which the well-posedness of Friedrichs systems on polyhedral domains is ensured, while still allowing changes in the inertial type of the boundary.

Linear and Two‐Dimensional Infrared Spectroscopy of the Multifunctional Vibrational Probe, 3‐(4‐Azidophenyl) Propiolonitrile. Deperturbing a Fermi Triad by Isotopic Substitution

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 26, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
Linear infrared spectroscopy combined with isotope labeling and density functional theory unravels the origin of a Fermi triad in a multifunctional vibrational chromophore. Ultrafast 2DIR‐spectroscopy reports directly on the dynamics and the intramolecular vibrational energy flow pathways in the isotopically deperturbed system. Abstract Infrared probes

Structure Formation in the Wetting Layer of a Carbonyl‐Functionalized Ionic Liquid on Au(111): How to Control the Functional Group?

open access: yesChemPhysChem, EarlyView.
Understanding how functional groups influence ionic liquid adsorption is key to optimizing SCILL catalyst interfaces. Using IRAS, STM, DFT, and MD, we studied [5‐oxo‐C6C1Im][NTf2] on Au(111). Temperature and coverage determine whether the cations lie flat in space‐demanding motifs or adopt compact geometries with carbonyl groups tilting towards vacuum.

Recent Advances in Understanding the Sex Pheromone‐Mediated Communication of Diatoms

open access: yesChemPlusChem, EarlyView.
Pheromones control the sexuality and mate finding in diatoms, a group of highly abundant unicellular marine algae. The diatom pheromones presented here are elucidated using a metabolomics‐based approach. This review introduces new structures, methods, and conceptual advances and discusses future perspectives in diatom research.

The Interplay of Public Administration and Community Resilience During the COVID‐19 Pandemic—A Rapid Scoping Review

open access: yesConflict Resolution Quarterly, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This rapid scoping review examines the interplay between public administration and community resilience during the COVID‐19 pandemic, focusing on the type of research conducted, emerging themes in resilience studies, and key lessons learned. The findings show that research in the Global North has primarily examined resilience at the city level,
