Dynamic projection theory for fringe projection profilometry
Applied Optics, 2017Fringe projection profilometry (FPP) has been widely used for three-dimensional reconstruction, surface measurement, and reverse engineering. However, FPP is prone to overexposure if objects have a wide range of reflectance. In this paper, we propose a dynamic projection theory based on FPP to rapidly measure the overexposed region with an attempt to ...

Neuromorphic Fringe Projection Profilometry
IEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2020We address the problem of 3-D reconstruction using neuromorphic cameras (also known as event-driven cameras), which are a new class of vision-inspired imaging devices. Neuromorphic cameras are becoming increasingly popular for solving image processing and computer vision problems as they have significantly lower data rates than conventional frame ...

Compact fringe projection profilometer
SPIE Proceedings, 2009A compact fringe projection profilometer is recently developed for profiling small objects. A handphone-size microprojector with LED illumination is assembled into our system to minimize the size optical 3D sensor. In our compact 3D shape measurement system, the approaches of phase shifting, temporal phase unwrapping and modified least-squares ...

Measurement Science and Technology, 2015
A phase unwrapping algorithm specially designed for the phase-shifting fringe projection profilometry (FPP) is proposed. It combines a revised dual-frequency fringe projectionalgorithm and a proposed fringe background based quality guided phase unwrapping algorithm (FB-QGPUA).

Uniaxial fringe projection profilometry using projection defocus
Dimensional Optical Metrology and Inspection for Practical Applications IX, 2020This paper introduces a novel uniaxial fringe projection profilometry (FPP) called active shape from projection defocus profilometry (ASPDP), which utilizes the sharpness analysis of binary fringe patterns to quantify the defocus level. Compared with previous uniaxial FPP methods, our work first utilizes a pinhole defocus model to account for three ...

Fringe contrast-based 3D profilometry using fringe projection
Optik, 2005Quality-guided algorithm is a widely used method in phase unwrapping. This paper shows an accurate quality map based on fringe contrast for 3D shape measurement. Phase-shifted fringe patterns are projected onto an object surface by a programmable liquid crystal projector and recorded by a CCD camera.

Accurate calibration method for a fringe projection system by projecting an adaptive fringe pattern
Applied Optics, 2019In fringe projection profilometry, the lens distortion of a commercial projector may introduce larger error when testing large objects and can become one of the major error sources. In this paper, a calibration method for a fringe projection system is adapted in order to remove the influence of projector lens distortion without the need to calibrate ...

Dual-biprism-based coaxial fringe projection system
Applied Optics, 2022Fringe projection profilometry (FPP) has been widely used for three-dimensional shape measurement because of its simple hardware and high measurement accuracy. However, the use of most FPP systems to measure complex surfaces such as stepped height objects can result in severe occlusion and shadow. To alleviate this problem, a coaxial measurement method

Optical roughness measurements with fringe projection
Applied Optics, 1999The characterization of roughness of engineering surfaces over an area is an important task for different applications as well as for manufacturing processes. The surface roughness is in particular an important factor in determining the performance of a workpiece.
