Replicability of Functional Brain Networks: A Study Through the Lens of Seven Resting‐State Networks [PDF]
This study assesses the impact of preprocessing pipeline, 0.01–0.1 Hz band‐pass filtering, and brain parcellation on the replicability of functional connectivity estimates in seven resting‐state networks for multi‐site fMRI data. We find large effects for pipeline and parcellation on FC estimates, while band‐pass filtering has little effect.

Low Rank Matrix Completion with Exponential Family Noise [PDF]
The matrix completion problem consists in reconstructing a matrix from a sample of entries, possibly observed with noise. A popular class of estimator, known as nuclear norm penalized estimators, are based on minimizing the sum of a data fitting term and

New views of some invariants associated with the Cartesian 2D velocity gradient tensor
Vorticity and divergence of horizontal flow are fundamental quantities in meteorology; both are linear functions of the four elements of the 2D velocity gradient tensor and both are formally unchanged under coordinate rotation. We explore four quadratic functions of the elements that are geometrically invariant in this sense, finding some novel ...

The role of identification in data‐driven policy iteration: A system theoretic study
Abstract The goal of this article is to study fundamental mechanisms behind so‐called indirect and direct data‐driven control for unknown systems. Specifically, we consider policy iteration applied to the linear quadratic regulator problem. Two iterative procedures, where data collected from the system are repeatedly used to compute new estimates of ...

A Max-Norm Constrained Minimization Approach to 1-Bit Matrix Completion [PDF]
We consider in this paper the problem of noisy 1-bit matrix completion under a general non-uniform sampling distribution using the max-norm as a convex relaxation for the rank. A max-norm constrained maximum likelihood estimate is introduced and studied.

ABSTRACT Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellations offer unprecedented opportunities for global broadband connectivity but pose significant beamforming challenges due to rapid platform motion and stringent onboard hardware constraints. Fully digital architectures, while optimal in theory, remain impractical for satellite payloads, motivating ...

Motivated with a problem in spectroscopy, Sloane and Harwit conjectured in 1976 what is the minimal Frobenius norm of the inverse of a matrix having all entries from the interval [0, 1].

Enhancing generalized spectral clustering with embedding Laplacian graph regularization
Abstract An enhanced generalised spectral clustering framework that addresses the limitations of existing methods by incorporating the Laplacian graph and group effect into a regularisation term is presented. By doing so, the framework significantly enhances discrimination power and proves highly effective in handling noisy data.

On two-dimensional continued fractions for the integer hyperbolic matrices with small norm
In this note we classify two-dimensional continued fractions for cubic irrationalities constructed by matrices with not large norm ($|*| \le 6$).
