Investigation of the rotation of a wave front in a molecular multipass amplifier
Journal of Applied Spectroscopy, 1982Close attention has been focused on the phenomenon of the rotation of a wave front (RWF) which arises upon nonlinear interaction of light with matter in connection with the broad possibilities for its practical applications in contemporary laser technology.

Spatial and egocentric mental rotation in patients with cervical dystonia [PDF]
Mental rotation has attracted the interest of cognitive research on dystonia, but at the moment, contrasting data are available on whether this complex cognitive ability is impaired in the disorder.

Effects of rotation on fronts of density currents
Physics Letters A, 2000Abstract The effects of background rotation with angular velocity f /2 are studied for buoyancy driven currents of initial height h 0 whose density exceeds by Δρ the ambient value of ρ 0 . Our aim is to find how viscous density currents adjust in time under effects of background rotation focusing on time evolution of fronts of density ...

Convergence fronts in tidally forced rotating estuaries
Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 2001In situ observation and remote sensing imagery reveal the presence of longitudinal velocity convergences over bathymetric channels in tidal estuaries. We present the results of numerical experiments designed to investigate the cause of these convergences for channels possessing shallow shoal regions and a deeper central region.

Top-bottom and front-behind decisions on rotated objects.
Canadian Journal of Experimental Psychology / Revue canadienne de psychologie expérimentale, 1993Human adults decided whether a dot was nearer the top or bottom of rotated drawings of objects in a top-bottom task, and whether a dot was at the front of or behind rotated objects in a front-behind task. These two tasks were performed with the head upright and with the head tilted clockwise and counterclockwise in separate blocks of trials in order to

Vortex-Front Propagation in Rotating Couette-Taylor Flow
Physical Review Letters, 1983This Letter reports experimental measurements of the velocity $v$ of a Taylor vortex front propagating into an unstable Couette state in rotating Couette-Taylor flow and of the wavelength selected by this dynamical process. The data are consistent with a constant velocity $v\ensuremath{\propto}{\ensuremath{\epsilon}}^{\frac{1}{2}}$, as predicted from ...

Ageostrophic instabilities of fronts in a channel in a stratified rotating fluid
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2009It is known that for finite Rossby numbers geostrophically balanced flows develop specific ageostrophic instabilities. We undertake a detailed study of the Rossby–Kelvin (RK) instability, previously studied by Sakai (J. Fluid Mech., vol. 202, 1989, pp. 149–176) in a two-layer rotating shallow-water model.
