Hyperdominant Trees Reveal Savanna Vulnerability Under Climate Change
Global Change Biology, Volume 32, Issue 4, April 2026.The Brazilian Cerrado's forest structure relies disproportionately on just 30 hyperdominant tree species, which represent 50% of all individuals despite accounting for only 2% of species richness. This study evaluates their vulnerability under climate change scenarios for 2100.

Animal–Plant Interactions Under Defaunation: Consequences for Amazonian Trees of Commercial Interest
Biotropica, Volume 58, Issue 2, March 2026.We experimentally investigated the effects of medium‐ and large‐sized mammal defaunation on the removal and fate of seeds from economically important forest species in Amazonian forests. Our results show that mammal exclusion significantly reduced seed removal, although the magnitude of this effect varied among plant species.

Dynamic proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H‐MRS) and spectroscopic imaging (1H‐MRSI) revealed reductions in total creatine (tCr), and elevations in glutamate/glutamine (Glx), and lactate (Lac) in frontal and parietal brain regions.
