Worry, procrastination, and perfectionism: Differentiating amount of worry, pathological worry, anxiety, and depression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
This study investigates features that differentiate worry from somatic anxiety and depression. Theoretical models of the worry process suggest that worry is closely related to procrastination.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Introduction to the periglacial environment in Finland [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 1997
An overview is presented of the periglacial characteristics of climate and landforms in Finland. Mean annual air temperature (MAAT) in Finland ranges from +5.5 to -3°C, and frost sums in most parts of the country are large enough for active seasonal ...

A survey of image-based computational learning techniques for frost detection in plants

open access: yesInformation Processing in Agriculture, 2023
Frost damage is one of the major concerns for crop growers as it can impact the growth of the plants and hence, yields. Early detection of frost can help farmers mitigating its impact. In the past, frost detection was a manual or visual process.

Effects of Cold Surface Temperature on Frosting Characteristics and Anti-Frosting Performance of Superhydrophobic Fins

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2022
To determine the influence of cold surface temperatures on the frosting characteristics and anti-frosting performance of superhydrophobic fins, the frosting process on superhydrophobic fins under different cold surface temperatures was studied. A visual frosting experimental system was built and the results were compared with those of bare fins without

Perfectionism in young musicians: Relations with motivation, effort, achievement, and distress [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Many musicians experience anxiety and distress when performing, which has been related to perfectionism. Recent findings, however, show that only some facets of perfectionism are associated with anxiety and distress, whereas other facets are associated ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Experimental study on frost heave characteristics of PCM-clay under one-dimensional freeze-thaw

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
The clay incorporated with phase change material (PCM-clay) has the characteristics of freezing resistance and temperature control, which makes it possible to construct clay core walls, channels, embankments, roads and other scenarios with negative ...

Erhöhte Frosttoleranz und vorteilhafte Keimeigenschaften in europäischen Ambrosia artemisiifolia Populationen

open access: yesJulius-Kühn-Archiv, 2014
Germination characteristics and frost tolerance of seedlings are crucial parameters for establishment and invasion success of plants. Within this study, we investigated germination characteristics of Ambrosia artemisiifolia L. populations from native and

Sensitivity Analysis of Pipe–Soil Interaction Influencing Factors under Frost Heaving

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2023
The mechanism of pipe–soil interaction under frost heaving is complicated due to many factors affecting the pipe–soil system. In order to analyze the sensitivity of various pipe–soil interaction influencing factors and highlight the relationship between ...
