Frost Damage in a Spherical Orange

2023
In this chapter, we will investigate how frost damage penetrates a spherical and ripe orange. We assume that there is a sudden change in outside temperature at night with convection heat transfer at the surface of the orange. Also, there is a cloudy sky so there is minimal radiation heat loss to the night sky.

Holographic study of frost damage

Physics Bulletin, 1988
Frost related damage in concrete can seriously affect the durability of structures such as bridge decks, retaining walls and dams. Nondestructive tests can quantify the effect of frost exposure, through measuring changes in the length or elastic characteristics of the specimen, and ultrasonic methods are also used but these tests do not give a global ...

Frost Damage to Red Pine

Journal of Forestry, 1933
Abstract The author describes frost injury to the tops of 15-year-old red pine trees growing in a plantation at Keene, New Hampshire, and discusses its physiology. The method of recovery and resultant deformity is described in detail and illustrated with photographs and diagrams.

STORABILITY OF FROST-DAMAGED CANOLA

Canadian Journal of Plant Science, 1984
Changes in the quality of frost-damaged canola seeds (Brassica napus L. and B. campestris L.) from 21 bins in Manitoba were studied on four occasions (Rounds 1 to 4) during October 1982 to April 1983. Twenty-two quality parameters were assessed on seed samples obtained at two bin depths on each sampling occasion.

A concrete jetty with frost damage

Magazine of Concrete Research, 1964
Summary A mass-concrete jetty by the Baltic Sea was inspected because its surface had deteriorated. The observations suggest freezing and thawing as the obvious cause of damage. As an introduction and for comparison, some examples of frost damage to concrete in Denmark are described.

Feeding value of frost-damaged soybeans for lambs

Journal of Animal Science, 1992
Three experiments were conducted to determine the relative feeding value of frost-damaged soybeans (FDS) for ruminants. Frost-damaged soybean ether-extract content was variable and differed (P less than .05) from mature soybeans. Isonitrogenous supplementation of corn silage diets with soybean meal (SBM), SBM+soybean oil (SBO), mature raw soybeans (MSB)
