Frost resistance of recycled concrete

open access: yes, 2016
Literature often concludes that the lower mechanical properties of recycled concrete, compared to standard concrete, is unfavourable for the durability in aggressive environments. One of these aggressive environments is frost.

Global burden of bacterial antimicrobial resistance 1990-2021: a systematic analysis with forecasts to 2050 [PDF]

open access: yes
Background: Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) poses an important global health challenge in the 21st century. A previous study has quantified the global and regional burden of AMR for 2019, followed with additional publications that provided more detailed ...

Study on Frost Layer Growth Characteristics of Finned Tube Evaporator Under Forced Convection Conditions

open access: yesZhileng xuebao
Frosting is one main adverse factor hindering the application of finned tube evaporators in refrigeration systems. To accurately predict the growth characteristics of the frost layer, its growth behavior on the surface of a three-dimensional finned tube ...

Frost resistance prediction for rubberized concrete based on artificial neural network

open access: yesDiscover Applied Sciences
Using waste rubber to partially replace fine aggregate to make rubber concrete can not only reduce black pollution to alleviate the dilemma of natural sand resource depletion, but also improve the frost resistance of concrete, which is undoubtedly a win ...

Identification and characterization of a gene conferring stress resistance in Escherichia coli and cyanobacteria

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Functional screening identified PcSyn14890, a cyanobacteria‐specific protein that enhances growth and stress resistance in E. coli and Synechocystis PCC6803. Although we expected it to function as a molecular chaperone, it was unable to protect against thermal aggregation of GAPDH.

TRPML1 agonist ML‐SA5 attenuates pulmonary fibroblast activation by suppressing mTOR and restoring autophagic flux

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TGF‐β1 stimulation downregulates lysosomal channel TRPML1 in pulmonary fibroblasts. The TRPML1 agonist ML‐SA5 suppressed fibroblast‐to‐myofibroblast activation and collagen production. Mechanistically, ML‐SA5 inhibited mTOR phosphorylation, restored autophagic flux, and its effects were enhanced by rapamycin (mTOR inhibitor) and reversed by MHY1485 ...

Blood RNA Biomarker Signatures for Early Diagnosis and Prognosis in Ischemic and Hemorrhagic Stroke: The IBIS‐CT1 Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the expression of nine blood RNA biomarkers in a clinical trial based on genes previously identified in an experimental monkey model of stroke for diagnosis feasibility and prognostication. Methods IBIS‐CT1 was a prospective longitudinal study enrolling patients with ischemic stroke (IS) or intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH ...
