Influence of firing temperature on frost resistance of roofing tiles

Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 2004
Abstract In cold districts, prevention against frost damage of roofing tiles caused by the expansion due to the freezing of water absorbed in the numerous pores in the tile material has becomes a serious problem. It is known that the frost damage is closely connected to the porosity and water absorbing capacity of the roofing tile.

Surface temperatures and retention of H2O frost on Ganymede and Callisto

Icarus, 1980
Abstract Surface temperatures and ice evaporation rates are calculated for Ganymede and Callisto as a function of latitude, time of day, and albedo. The model uses surface thermal properties determined by eclipse radiometry ( Morrison and Cruikshank, 1973 Icarus 18 224–236) and albedos determined from photometrically decalibrated Voyager images ...

Critical frost temperatures for Douglas-fir cone buds

Canadian Journal of Forest Research, 1977
Forest temperature for 50% kill (LT50) of female buds as determined by laboratory freezing tests in 1973–1975 ranged between −19 and −23 °C for five clones from mid-December to early March. Hardiness then decreased at 1.6 °C per week to an LT50 of −6.5 °C by the time of first bud swelling in late April.
