Ground ice is a distinguishing characteristic of permafrost soil.As permafrost profoundly influences the hydrology, ecology and engineering design in cold regions, it is important to accurately estimate the underground ice reserves of permafrost. Thus ...

Spatial variability of permafrost soil-moisture on the slope of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau
Permafrost degradation and its freezing-thawing process affect the physical, chemical and biological processes of ecological and hydrological systems in cold regions.

Due to the increasing air temperatures, retrogressive thaw slumps (RTSs) have become more common on the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau (QTP), but their inventory, frequency, and initiation have not been fully investigated. In satellite imagery for the period 2018–

HydroThermal Dynamics of Frozen Soils on the Tibetan Plateau during 2015-2016
The hydrothermal dynamics of frozen soil were monitored at a typical meadow ecosystem on the Tibetan Plateau. Soil temperature/moisture profiles were automatically measured at a 30-min.

A minimal cellulosome‐like system in Cellulosilyticum lentocellum
Cellulose‐degrading bacteria typically use cellulosomes, large multi‐enzyme complexes on a scaffold protein. In Cellulosilyticum lentocellum, we characterise a far smaller arrangement, a single scaffold bound to one cellulase through a single cohesin‐dockerin interaction.

Quantifying the Contribution of Sediment Load to Soil Detachment Rate by Sediment-Laden Rill Flow
Sediment load changes with downslope distance during rill erosion process, and thus quantifying the potential contribution of sediment load on soil detachment rate is essential to accurately model the rill erosion process.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

First comprehensive stable isotope dataset of diverse water units in a permafrost-dominated catchment on the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau [PDF]
Considered the Asian water tower, the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau (QTP) processes substantial permafrost, and its hydrological environments are spatially different and can be easily disturbed by changing permafrost and melting ground ice.
