Fructosyltransferase Immobilization Via Entrapment

2021
Immobilization has emerged as a suitable approach to ensure the stability of enzymes, simplifying their removal once the reaction has been completed and enabling their reutilization. Entrapment is an immobilization method consisting in the occlusion of a given enzyme in synthetic or natural polymeric networks that act as permeable membranes for ...

Sucrose:sucrose fructosyltransferase and fructan:fructan fructosyltransferase from allium cepa

Phytochemistry, 1980
Abstract Sucrose: sucrose fructosyltransferase and fructan:fructan fructosyltransferase were isolated from the inner leaf bases of bulbing onion plants (Allium cepa) and separated by gel filtration on Bio-Gel P-150. Sucrose:sucrose fructosyltransferase produced only one trisaccharide, 1F-fructosylsucrose, from sucrose.

Research Progress and Prospects for Fructosyltransferases

ChemBioEng Reviews, 2021
AbstractFructosyltransferases can be used to produce fructooligosaccharides from sucrose and are obtained from different sources, mostly microorganisms and plants. Heterologous expression and several mutagenesis methods were applied to improve the production of fructosyltransferases.

Production, properties, and applications of fructosyltransferase: a current appraisal

Critical Reviews in Biotechnology, 2021
Fructosyltransferases (FTases) are drawing increasing attention due to their application in prebiotic fructooligosaccharide (FOS) generation. FTases have been reported to occur in a variety of microorganisms but are predominantly found in filamentous fungi.

Fructosyltransferase Enzymes for Microbial Fructan Production

2020
Fructans are fructose-based oligo- and polysaccharides synthesized using sucrose as substrate. Depending on the glycosidic bonds in their structure, they are classified as inulin and levan types or a mixture of these, namely graminans and agavins.

Microbial production of fructosyltransferases for synthesis of pre-biotics

Biotechnology Letters, 2008
Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) are prebiotic substances found in several vegetable or natural foods. The main commercial production of FOS comes from enzymatic transformation of sucrose by the microbial enzyme fructosyltransferase. The development of more efficient enzymes, with high activity and stability, is required and this has attracted the interest

Expression and Activity Analysis of Fructosyltransferase from Aspergillus oryzae

The Protein Journal, 2017
The fructosyltransferase gene was isolated and cloned from Aspergillus oryzae. The gene was 1368 bp, which encoded a protein of 455 amino acids. To analyze the activity of the expressed fructosyltransferase, the pET32a-fructosyltransferase recombined plasmid was transformed into Escherichia coli BL21.

Isolation and characterization of fructosyltransferase from chicory roots

Phytochemistry, 1971
Abstract The occurrence of fructosyltransferase was demonstrated in the roots of chicory. The enzyme was purified 14-fold by ammonium sulphate fractionation and sephadex column chromatography. The optimal conditions for activity were pH 5·6, 37° and substrate (sucrose) concentration of 5·84 × 10 −1 M.
