ABSTRACT Taraxacum kok‐saghyz (TKS) synthesises natural rubber (NR) and inulin using sucrose as a carbon source. However, molecular mechanisms regulating inulin and NR accumulation remain largely unclear. Here, we report the generation of double‐gene homozygous mutants, 1‐sst1‐fft, by simultaneously knocking out two key genes responsible for inulin ...

Using Natural Variation to Investigate the Function of Individual Amino Acids in the Sucrose-Binding Box of Fructan:Fructan 6G-Fructosyltransferase (6G-FFT) in Product Formation [PDF]
Enzymes of the glycosyl hydrolase family 32 are highly similar with respect to primary sequence but catalyze divergent reactions. Previously, the importance of the conserved sucrose-binding box in determining product specificity of onion fructan:fructan ...

MEPDB: Database of microExons in plants
Summary Microexons, ≤ 51‐nucleotide (nt), particularly ultra‐short ones (1–15 nt), are challenging to identify due to their small size and frequent absence in genome annotations, which limits understanding of their biological roles. Using our developed pipeline, we identified 2398 small internal microexons across 10 diverse plant species, and most of ...

Molecular Characterization of Sucrose:Sucrose 1-Fructosyltransferase and Sucrose:Fructan 6-Fructosyltransferase Associated with Fructan Accumulation in Winter Wheat during Cold Hardening [PDF]
We isolated two cDNAs of winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), designated wft1 and wft2, which encoded sucrose:fructan 6-fructosyltransferase (6-SFT) and sucrose:sucrose 1-fructosyltransferase (1-SST; EC 2.4.1.99), respectively, which are involved in the synthesis of fructan in wheat.
