Dates Fruit Disease Recognition using Machine Learning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Many countries such as Saudi Arabia, Morocco and Tunisia are among the top exporters and consumers of palm date fruits. Date fruit production plays a major role in the economies of the date fruit exporting countries. Date fruits are susceptible to disease just like any fruit and early detection and intervention can end up saving the produce.

Detectability and content as opposing signal characteristics in fruits [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series B: Biological Sciences, 2004
Although often associated with consumers, fruit colours have rarely been assessed as signals. Here, we investigate the signal principles of 'detectability' and 'content' in bird-dispersed fruits. We determined detectability as the contrast between fruit and background and signal 'content' by correlating fruit colours and compounds.

High-Precision Fruit Localization Using Active Laser-Camera Scanning: Robust Laser Line Extraction for 2D-3D Transformation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Recent advancements in deep learning-based approaches have led to remarkable progress in fruit detection, enabling robust fruit identification in complex environments. However, much less progress has been made on fruit 3D localization, which is equally crucial for robotic harvesting.

TL-YOLOv8: A Blueberry Fruit Detection Algorithm Based on Improved YOLOv8 and Transfer Learning

open access: yesIEEE Access
Blueberry fruit in the picking process are characterized by small fruit particles, similar color characteristics of immature fruits to leaf, and not obvious characteristics of fruits obscured by leaves, which lead to low real-time detection accuracy of ...

Unlearning and Deradicalizing From White Christian Nationalism: Implications for Adult Learning and Education

open access: yesNew Directions for Adult and Continuing Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Since the January 2021 attack on the US Capitol, the influence of White Christian nationalism (WCN) has become even more pronounced and concerning. Adult educators and the public need a better understanding of whether and how WCN can be unlearned, and the roles ordinary citizens and adult educators can play in this process.

Histone Deacetylase 6 Brain PET in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis‐Frontotemporal Spectrum Disorder

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective [18F]EKZ‐001 is a positron emission tomography (PET) tracer targeting histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6), an enzyme responsible for intracellular transport and clearance of misfolded proteins. HDAC6 modulation is a promising treatment strategy in neurodegenerative disorders, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
