Harvest Maturity Stage and Cold Storage Length Influence on Flavour Development in Peach Fruit

open access: yesAgronomy, 2018
Peach market is facing a constant decrease due to the poor fruit quality perceived at consumption that might be greatly affected by fruit ripening stage at harvest and by the post-harvest management. The present work aimed at clarifying the influence of maturity at harvest on the evolution of peach aroma and quality during shelf-life after prolonged ...

Modeling in estimation of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) fruit weight based on fruit length and diameter in response to harvest option

open access: yesTrends in Horticulture, 2023
Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) is a tropical vegetable and a source of vitamins such as K, C, and B. It is commonly grown and sold for daily consumption, but picking the right fruit size is more profitable. Therefore, a method for estimating the fruit weight is highly recommended.

Cucumber Fruit Size and Shape Variations Explored from the Aspects of Morphology, Histology, and Endogenous Hormones

open access: yesPlants, 2020
Fruit size and shape are important qualities and yield traits in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.), but the factors that influence fruit size and shape remain to be explored. In this study, we investigated the dynamic changes of fruit size and shape from the

Nanostructural changes in cell wall pectins during strawberry fruit ripening assessed by atomic force microscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Rapid loss of firmness occurs during strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa Duch) ripening, resulting in a short shelf life and high economic losses. The disassembly of cell walls is considered the main responsible for fruit softening, being pectins extensively
