Orbital Fat Volumetry and Water Fraction Measurements Using T2-Weighted FSE-IDEAL Imaging in Patients with Thyroid-Associated Orbitopathy

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Neuroradiology, 2016
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The quantitative evaluation of orbital fat proliferation and edema and the assessment of extraocular muscles are useful for diagnosing and monitoring thyroid-associated orbitopathy. To evaluate therapy-induced quantitative changes

Marginal analysis of longitudinal count data in long sequences: Methods and applications to a driving study

open access: yes, 2012
Most of the available methods for longitudinal data analysis are designed and validated for the situation where the number of subjects is large and the number of observations per subject is relatively small.

Implementing a Business Process Management System Using ADEPT: A Real-World Case Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
This article describes how the agent-based design of ADEPT (advanced decision environment for processed tasks) and implementation philosophy was used to prototype a business process management system for a real-world application.

Numerical modelling of mass transfer and the plasticization effect of supercritical CO2 on polypropylene during extrusion

open access: yesInternational Journal of Thermofluids
Supercritical CO2 (sCO2) is a known plasticizer and has been used to replace conventional blowing agents in the processing of polypropylene. Few numerical models are available that consider advanced transport phenomena in polymer extrusion.

On the ground states and dynamics of space fractional nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger/Gross-Pitaevskii equations with rotation term and nonlocal nonlinear interactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we propose some efficient and robust numerical methods to compute the ground states and dynamics of Fractional Schr\"{o}dinger Equation (FSE) with a rotation term and nonlocal nonlinear interactions.

Tunneling in Fractional Quantum Mechanics

open access: yes, 2011
We study the tunneling through delta and double delta potentials in fractional quantum mechanics. After solving the fractional Schr\"odinger equation for these potentials, we calculate the corresponding reflection and transmission coefficients.

Darwinian Data Structure Selection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Data structure selection and tuning is laborious but can vastly improve an application's performance and memory footprint. Some data structures share a common interface and enjoy multiple implementations.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Light hadron spectrum with two flavors of $O(a)$ improved dynamical quarks : final results from JLQCD [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We present the final results of the JLQCD calculation of the light hadron spectrum and quark masses with two flavors of dynamical quarks using the plaquette gauge action and fully $O(a)$-improved Wilson quark action at $\beta=5.2$.

4D‐Printable Poly(Thio)urethane Photoresins With Reactive Oxygen Species Responsiveness and Anti‐Inflammatory Functionality

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces UV‐curable poly(thio)urethane (PSU) thermosets as 4D printable scaffolds responsive to oxidative stress. PSU networks with 100 wt.% polypropylene glycol (PPG) effectively suppress inflammatory markers in microglial cells to basal values.
