Effects of aspect ratio, wall thickness and hypertension in the patient-specific computational modeling of cerebral aneurysms using fluid-structure interaction analysis

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2019
Intracranial aneurysm is a pathological dilatation of the cerebral artery which can lead to high mortality rate upon rupture. The aspect ratio (AR) of an aneurysm, being the ratio of the height to neck width, is an important factor in estimating the ...

Electrolyte Li+ Chemical Potential Correlates with Graphite Negative Electrode Reactions in Lithium-Ion Batteries. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Mater
This work demonstrates that the electrolyte Li+ chemical potential (µLi+) is a quantitative descriptor of electrochemical Li+ intercalation into graphite negative electrodes. Solvent cointercalation can be generally suppressed, and Li+ intercalation is enabled by employing electrolytes with t high µLi+ exceeding the boundary region, which provides a ...

Coherence‐Gated Mirau Interferometry for Single‐Shot Quantitative Phase Imaging and Motion Sensing

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This paper presents a compact add‐on module converting a Mirau or other on‐axis interferometer into a single‐shot quantitative phase imaging system using coherence gating and precise optical path matching. Demonstrations include time‐resolved imaging of human cells and streaming red blood cells, visualization of evaporation dynamics in liquid mixtures,

Unsteady FSI simulation of downwind sails

open access: yes, 2013
A numerical model for the simulation of the fluid-structure interaction (FSI) between the wind and the sails of a sailing boat is presented. This problem is characterized by an extremely light structure (in particular when downwind sails, spinnaker or gennaker, are considered) experiencing large displacements under the action of a complex (turbulent ...

Experimental Study on Polymer–Polymer Interfacial Thermal Resistance

open access: yesMacromolecular Theory and Simulations, Volume 34, Issue 2, March 2025.
Interfacial thermal resistance (ITR) in polymer–polymer interfaces is experimentally measured in this paper by the multi‐layered bulk sample approach. Based on numerical simulation and experimental verification, new techniques of layer‐overlapping samples are developed.

Impact of Organic and Inorganic Fillers on the Performance of Ternary Biodegradable Poly(Butylene Succinate‐Co‐Butylene Adipate), Poly(Butylene Adipate‐Co‐Terephthalate), and Poly(3‐Hydroxybutyrate‐Co‐3‐Hydroxyvalerate) Blends

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Development of a ternary blend composite based on PBAT/PBSA/PHVB with improved mechanical properties. ABSTRACT This study explores a ternary biodegradable blend of bio‐based poly(butylene succinate‐co‐adipate) (bio‐PBSA), poly(butylene adipate terephthalate) (PBAT), and poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate‐co‐3‐hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV).

Flowering out of sync: Climate change alters the reproductive phenology of Terminalia paniculata in the Western Ghats of India

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Understanding how climate change impacts the plant life cycle is critical for maintaining biodiversity and ecosystem services. Our findings suggest that Terminalia paniculata Roth, a common tropical deciduous tree species in the Western Ghats, is now flowering and fruiting at more scattered times than it used to in the past.

FSI SIMULATION OF A FLEXIBLE VORTEX GENERATOR AND THE EFFECTS OF VORTICES TO THE HEAT TRANSFER PROCESS

open access: yesPlatform, a Journal of Engineering, 2020
This work numerically investigated the strength of vortices behind a flexible vortex generator (FVG) by calculating the circulation using Fluid-Structural Interaction (FSI) simulation of RANS (SST) k-ω model.

The NN-final-state-interaction in two-nucleon-knockout reactions

open access: yes, 2003
The influence of the mutual interaction between the two outgoing nucleons (NN-FSI) in electro- and photoinduced two-nucleon knockout from $^{16}O$ has been investigated perturbatively.
