Application of FSI on Turbomachinery
2011 Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, 2011In this paper, a simulation method will be introduced to solve the problem caused by the complicated and transient pressure, which is applied on the surface of turbomachinery blades. For the FSI (fluid-solid interaction) issues in turbo-machinery, this method can make the simulated results of the blades' deformation and stress more precise and closer ...

Fsi Analysis of Liquid-Filled Pipes
Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1999Most reported work on transient fluid/structure interaction (FSI) in liquid-filled pipes has been carried out in the time domain. When needed, information in the frequency domain (e.g., frequency responses) has been deduced by discrete Fourier transforms.

Independent structures do not interact each other unless there is a mechanism to couple their responses. One of the coupling mechanisms is a fluid medium. Dynamic response of a structure (called the primary structure) can be transferred to a neighboring structure (called the secondary structure) through a fluid medium, especially when the fluid is ...

A Classification of Interface Treatments for FSI
2010This paper proposes a taxonomy of methods for the treatment of the fluid-structure interface in FSI coupled problems. The top-level classification is based on the presence or absence of Additional Interface Variables (AIV) as well as their type. Associated prototype methods: Direct Force Motion Transfer (DFMT), Mortar and Localized Lagrange Multipliers

Fatigue failure is one of the most common failure modes for structures. This is also true for composite structures that are in contact with water. This chapter presents the experimental results of composite structures subjected to cyclic loading while they were under water (Kwon et al. in Exp Mech 56(4):645–652, 2016, [1]).
