Thermo-Mechanical Investigations during Friction Stir Spot Welding (FSSW) of AA6082-T6
Welding in the World, 2010Friction Stir Spot Welding (FSSW) is a variant of the Friction Stir Welding (FSW) process and has been successfully used in industrial applications. During the FSSW process, thermal inputs due to friction and deformation are commenced simultaneously, as the non-consumable rotating tool plunges into the workpiece to be welded.

Parametric study of FSSW of aluminium alloy 5754 using a pinless tool
Welding in the World, 2014A parametric study of friction stir spot welding (FSSW) of lap joints in aluminium alloy 5754 using a pinless tool with scrolled shoulder is presented. Experimental plan was done according to the response surface methodology (RSM), where tool rotation speed varied between 988 and 3511 rev/min, plunge rate between 24.4 and 150 mm/min and dwell time ...

Finite Element Modeling of Friction Stir Spot Welding (FSSW) of Ti-6Al-4V
2017Titanium alloys, especially Ti-6Al-4V, have been widely used in the aerospace industry due to their high specific strength, high heat-resistant, and high corrosion-resistant properties. This alloy is used in current airframe applications for medium-sized forgings in high load transfer components such as the engine pylon and undercarriage support ...
