Novel Ruthenium-Silver PTA-Based Polymers and Their Behavior in Water [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
New coordination polymers based on two metal-containing moieties Ru–Ag are synthesized: Na[RuCpX(PTA)-μ-(PTA)-1κP:2κ2N-AgX2]∞ (X = Cl (1), Br (2), I (3)).

Elastic precursor of the transformation from glycolipid-nanotube to -vesicle

open access: yes, 2006
By the combination of optical tweezer manipulation and digital video microscopy, the flexural rigidity of single glycolipid "nano" tubes has been measured below the transition temperature at which the lipid tubules are transformed into vesicles ...

Preparation of Activated Carbon-SnO2, TiO2, and WO3 Catalysts. Study by FT-IR Spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2016
The chemical changes produced in the surface of activated carbon as a result of the process of preparation of activated carbon–metal oxide catalysts from SnCl2, TiO2, and Na2WO4 in water at pH 1.37 for SnCl2, 5.84 for TiO2, and 9.54 for Na2WO4 are ...

Combining Raman and FT-IR spectroscopy with quantitative isotopic labeling for differentiation of E. coli cells at community and single cell levels.

open access: yesAnalytical Chemistry, 2015
There is no doubt that the contribution of microbially mediated bioprocesses toward maintenance of life on earth is vital. However, understanding these microbes in situ is currently a bottleneck, as most methods require culturing these microorganisms to ...

Tunable and Recyclable Piezoelectric Biomaterials via Ion‐Directed Guanine‐Quadruplex Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Guanine‐quadruplex (GQ) assemblies, formed via ion‐mediated self‐assembly of amphiphilic guanine derivatives, are introduced as tunable and recyclable piezoelectric biomaterials. Distinct alkali ions induce unique dipole configurations and piezoelectric outputs, with K⁺ yielding the highest performance.

Analysis of lard in cream cosmetics formulations using FT-IR spectroscopy and chemometrics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Typically, cream preparation is composed from complex mixtures; therefore its analysis is rather difficult. The presence of lard (LD) in any personal care products is prohibited to be used by the Followers of Islam.

Dual‐Phased Molybdenum Carbides Confined in MOF‐Derived Carbon Nanoframes Enhance Capacitive Desalination

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dual‐phase MoC/Mo2C/CoNC nanoframes are synthesized via a MOF‐on‐MOF strategy, demonstrating a large salt adsorption capacity, a low energy consumption, and an excellent cycling stability. In situ/ex situ characterizations and DFT calculations reveal that the MoC/Mo2C dual phase transition facilitates Na+ adsorption/desorption, while interface‐induced ...
