Profiling cocaine by ATR–FTIR

Forensic Science International, 2015
In this article, five hundred and thirteen cocaine seizures of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) were analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) in the fingerprint region (1800-650 cm(-1)) to profiling and evaluate the pharmaceutical products used as adulterants.

Investigation of folding in protamine by FTIR

Talanta, 1992
The secondary structure of purified protamine, a non-specific DNA binding protein, was studied in solution at pH 4, 7 and 8 by FTIR. This permitted analysis of the folded form of the protein (acidic pH) as well as the folded conformers (neutral and basic pH).

Lignin Analysis by HPLC and FTIR

2017
Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) is a simple non-destructive technique which allows the user to obtain quick and accurate information about the structure of the constituents of wood. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is an analytical technique useful to determine the ratio of the lignin monomers obtained by the alkaline ...

FTIR Spectral Components of Schwertmannite

Environmental Science & Technology, 2010
Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectral components of three dominant groups of sulfate species in synthetic schwertmannite (Fe(8)O(8)(OH)(6-x)(SO(4))(x)*nH(2)O) are presented. These components were extracted by multivariate curve resolution analysis of spectra obtained from N(2)(g)-dry samples initially reacted in aqueous solutions (pH 3-9) at room ...

FTIR and Raman Spectroscopy of Rhodopsins

2022
Vibrational spectroscopy such as FTIR and Raman spectroscopy is a powerful, sensitive, and informative method for studying protein structural changes in rhodopsins during their functions. The usefulness has been historically proven for the study of bacteriorhodopsin and bovine rhodopsin before their structural determination of rhodopsins.

The Art of FTIR Microsampling

SPIE Proceedings, 1985
This paper describes in detail an FTIR Microscope and its application to an art conservation problem. Spectral results provide qualitative identification of sub-nanogram flecks of paint and aid the conservator in assigning approximate timing of earlier repair or over-painting. The microscope accessory, equipped with a built-in high D* MCT detector, can

FTIR spectroscopy and FTIR microscopy of vacuum-evaporated polyimide thin films

Vibrational Spectroscopy, 1999
Abstract Polyimide (PI) thin films can be formed by vapor co-deposition of the precursor molecules pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) and 4,4′-oxydianiline (ODA) if the resulting polyamic acid film is heated above 150°C. The effects of dose stoichiometry and curing temperature on the imidization rate and crystallization of PI films were investigated ...

Chemometrics for FTIR

2017
In this chapter, several analytical techniques to make the best use of the ‘ordinate scale’ of absorbance spectra are described. The techniques are on a concept of the multivariate analysis, which is usually called chemometrics. To employ chemometrics for spectral data analysis, the accuracy of the abscissa axis must be highly rigid.

FTIR Spectrum of the ν4Band of DCOOD

Journal of Molecular Spectroscopy, 1999
The FTIR spectrum of the nu4 band of deuterated formic acid (DCOOD) has been measured with a resolution of 0.004 cm-1 in the frequency range of 1120 to 1220 cm-1. A total of 1866 assigned transitions have been analyzed and fitted using a Watson's A-reduced Hamiltonian in the Ir representation to derive rovibrational constants for the upper state (v4 ...

Quantitative analysis of copolymers by FTIR

European Polymer Journal, 1993
Quantitative analysis of copolymers is described in detail for a series of copolymers of 2-[(phenylamino)carbonyl]oxyethyl methacrylate and 1-methyl-2-phenoxyethyl methacrylate. Particular emphasis is placed on aspects optimising the accuracy of the technique.
