PWR Fuel Assembly Modal Testing and Analysis
Flow-Induced Vibration, 2003Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) seismic or Lost Of Coolant Accident (LOCA) loads could result in impacts between nuclear fuel assemblies or between fuel assemblies and the core baffles. Forces generated during these shocks are often the basis for the determination of the maximum loads and of the spacer grid and fuel rod design.

Metallic wastes from fuel assemblies
Atomic Energy, 1994Investigation of a pulsed pneumatic transportation system for spent fuel is briefly described. Testing parameters for air transport included nozzle optimization and transportation range. The range of particles (30 to 40 mm metal chunks) was determined as a function of the nozzle diameter.

This chapter deals with the mechanical designs of fuel pins and assemblies. These core components must be designed to withstand the high temperature, high flux environment of a fast spectrum reactor for a long irradiation exposure time. In this chapter we will describe many of the factors that influence this design, and we will examine in some detail ...

Numerical simulation of fuel assemblies containing pebble fuel elements
Thermal Engineering, 2010A numerical calculation of the new fuel assembly for a VVER-1000 reactor containing fuel on the basis of pebble fuel elements is carried out. The reactor core pressure drop coefficients in the axial and radial directions are studied.

Fuel Pellet, Element and Assembly
2023Fuels that are fabricated for water-cooled power reactors are based on ceramic uranium dioxide (UO2), sintered from the powder to form fuel pellets. Fuel pellets, usually about 10 mm to 12 mm in diameter and 10 to 15 mm in length, are stacked in zirconium alloy (i.e., zircaloy) tubes, forming fuel elements.

On the development of fuel assemblies
Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, 1991Abstract Investigations of RBMK fuel assembly models of various geometries were carried out to develop fuel assemblies with reduced uranium dioxide temperatures and decreased void reactivity effect. The investigations include thermophysical experiments and neutron and physical calculations.
