Estimating fuel channel bore from fuel grab load trace data [PDF]
Detailed measurements of the graphite core fuel channels are made by specialist inspection equipment during planned outages, typically every 18 months to 3 years. The bores of the graphite fuel bricks are obtained during these inspections and are used to provide important information about the health of the core.

Automated Image Stitching of Down Channel Nuclear Reactor Fuel Channel Inspection Footage [PDF]
Routine inspection of the nuclear reactor core is fundamental to the continued safe operation of any nuclear power plant. Inspection methods vary but a common approach is visual inspection. Visual inspections are performed routinely on the UK’s seven Advanced Gas-cooled Reactors (AGR) and in this paper, we focus on that design.

Fuel Channel Inspection Equipment for RBMK Reactors [PDF]
This paper describes fuel channel inspection equipment for RBMK reactors. Specially designed equipment for inspecting RBMK reactor fuel channels has been manufactured by a Japanese joint company group and supplied to the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant. Three different heads of the equipment were used to detect flaws in the fuel channel especially in the

ASSESSMENT OF HEAT TRANSFER IN FUEL CHANNEL OF INDIAN PHWR UNDER POSTULATED LARGE BREAK LOSS OF COOLANT ACCIDENT: EXPERIMENTAL AND NUMERICAL STUDY [PDF]
The behaviour of the channel under postulated large break LOCA scenario had been a prime safety concern. The radiative heat transfer is predominant in a channel when the convective cooling environment is marred. The estimation of temperature distribution

Influence of diesel fuel viscosity on cavitating throttle flow simulations at erosive operation conditions [PDF]
This work investigates the effect of liquid fuel viscosity, as specific by the European Committee for Standardization 2009 (European Norm) for all automotive fuels, on the predicted cavitating flow in micro-orifice flows.

A novel model of third phase inclusions on two phase boundaries
A new computationally efficient model of an included phase located at the interface between two other phases is developed by projecting the boundaries of the inclusion onto the boundary between the two other phases.

Reduced complexity models for water management and anode purge scheduling in DEA operation of PEMFCs [PDF]
In this work, the dynamic behavior of Fuel Cell operation under Dead-Ended Anode conditions is shown. A DEA can be fed with dry hydrogen, since water crossing through the membrane is sufficient to humidify the fuel.

Experimental validation of equilibria in fuel cells with dead-ended anodes [PDF]
This paper investigates the nitrogen blanketing front during the dead-ended anode (DEA) operation of a PEM fuel cell. Surprisingly the dynamic evolution of nitrogen and water accumulation in the dead-ended anode (DEA) of a PEM fuel cell arrives to a ...
