Features of liquid fuel burning in a narrow channel

The paper deals with experimental investigations of the surface perturbation effects on the flame propagation velocity along the surface of the liquid. It is revealed that at low velocities the effect is quite significant. Under certain conditions the flame even stabilizes for some time.

Ultrasonic Characterization of Hydrides in Nuclear Fuel Channels

During operation, the pressure tubes in CANDU reactors develop zirconium embedded hydride defects via corrosion through the primary heat transport and their contact with the end fittings, which reduces the ductility of the pressure tube and greatly increases the risk of cracking.
