Fuel Property Effects on Oil Dilution in Diesel Engines
SAE International Journal of Fuels and Lubricants, 2013<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Light-duty diesel vehicles that make use of a diesel particulate filter (DPF) generally require periodic active regenerations. This is achieved by late, in-cylinder post-injections designed to add unburned fuel into the exhaust system to raise the DPF temperature and burn off the

Irradiation performance of HTGR fuel rods with diluted thermosetting matrices
Nuclear Engineering and Design, 1977Abstract Satisfactory irradiation performance of experimental thermosetting HTGR fuel rods whose injected matrices were properly diluted with a low-char-yield additive (fugitive) was demonstrated for a fast-neutron fluence of 5 × 10 21 n/cm 2 ( E > 0.18 MeV) at a temperature of 1200°C.

Homogeneous-Dilution Model of Partially Fueled Simplified Pulse Detonation Engines
Journal of Propulsion and Power, 2007A model for estimating the propulsive performance of a partially fueled simplified pulse detonation engine is proposed. The model has two significant advantages: no empirical parameter is required, and the model enables estimation of both the impulse and the duration during which the pressure at the thrust wall remains higher than its initial value. In

Combustion characteristics of an SI engine fueled with H2–CO blended fuel and diluted by CO2
International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2012Abstract This paper presents further results of the study on fundamental combustion characteristics of gaseous fuels simulated for a biogas produced through a biomass gasification process with a catalyzer. The main work focuses on combustion characteristics of H2–CO blended fuel and the effect of CO2 dilution on it in a spark-ignition engine under ...

Effect of fuel type on the extinction of fuel and air stream diluted partially premixed flames
Proceedings of the Combustion Institute, 2009Abstract Previous investigations have demonstrated that the roles of fuel stream dilution (FSD) and air stream dilution (ASD) in suppressing CO2-diluted methane flames are strongly influenced by the level of partial premixing. Herein, we compare this influence for both counterflow and coflow laminar non-premixed and partially premixed flames (PPFs ...

Diluted combustion in a aerodynamically staged swirled burner fueled by diesel oil
2010Among new combustion technologies, MILD (Moderate and Intense Low Oxygen Diluted) combustion is particularly attractive since it is characterized by: flame temperature peaks lower than registered in conventional systems, reducing NOx formation; a stable oxidation without a flame front even with lean fuels, limiting vibrations and noise due to flame ...
