Domestic Fuels and Efficiency of Utilization

Transactions of the Indian Ceramic Society, 1979
Both commercial and non-commercial fuels are used in our country for domestic purposes. Earlier, non-commercial fuels such as firewood, dung cakes and farm wastes were predominantly used. Since the availability of these is currently going down, people are forced to use more and more commercial fuels such as kerosene, LPG, coal and electricity.

The Impact of Fuel Price on Airline Fuel Efficiency and Operations [PDF]

open access: possible2013 Aviation Technology, Integration, and Operations Conference, 2013
Jet fuel prices have increased significantly during the past decade, resulting in fuel cost becoming airlines’ primary operating cost. Given the relevance of the air transport system for the economy, it is important that industry and policy makers are informed of past changes and likely future impacts driven by increased fuel prices.

Fuel efficiency and the physics of automobiles

Contemporary Physics, 1997
Energy flows and energy efficiencies in the operation of a modern automobile are expressed in terms of simple algebraic approximations. One purpose is to make a car's energy use and the potential for reducing it accessible to non-specialists with technical backgrounds.

Efficient multicomponent fuel algorithm

Combustion Theory and Modelling, 2003
We derive equations for multicomponent fuel evaporation in airborne fuel droplets and wall films, and implement the model into KIVA-3V. Temporal and spatial variations in liquid droplet composition and temperature are not modelled but solved for by discretizing the interior of the droplet in an implicit and computationally efficient way.

Airliner maintenance for fuel efficiency

International Air Transportation Conference, 1981
Due to the increased price of fuel, all airlines now place special emphasis on maintenance work to minimize both aircraft empty weight and in-service deterioration of drag and engine specific fuel consumption standards. This paper describes some of the methods employed by Eastern and other airlines to save fuel by maintenance action. Also discussed are

Study of fuel efficiency in a direct borohydride fuel cell

Journal of Power Sources, 2008
Abstract In this study, direct borohydride fuel cells (DBFCs) potentialities are evaluated. These emerging systems make it possible to reach maximum powers of about 200 mW cm −2 at room temperature and ambient air (natural convection) with high concentrated borohydride solutions.

The Thermodynamic Efficiency of Fuel Cells

1976
The methods of chemical thermodynamics prove useful in the study of fuel cells despite the fact that normally only equilibrium properties can be discussed. There are two main avenues which can be explored. First, a study of the thermodynamics of the Carnot cycle for a perfectly reversible heat engine will show that there is a limiting efficiency which ...

Furnaces Designed for Fuel Efficiency

2011
The purpose of this paper is to enlighten you about the various designs of aluminum melting and holding furnaces and how they relate to energy efficiency. The word efficiency is thrown around with little regard to its true meaning. There are three types of efficiencies in every furnace.
