Plutonium fuel and fuel elements for power reactors
Soviet Atomic Energy, 1977The use of plutonium in the fuel cycle during complex utilization of thermal and fast reactors in nuclear energetics permits solving the problem of ensuring nuclear fuel for a long period. Oxide uranium-plutonium fuel facilitates the development of technology of fast reactors and so far it is considered as the basic type of fuel.

Explosive welding of a fuel element
Nuclear Engineering and Design, 1968Abstract For welding a plug to a fuel element canning, an explosive wave method has been developed, partly in collaboration with the Metaalinstituut T. N. O., Delft. The materials used were 7% SAP and Zirclloy 2. Satisfactory results were obtained from the point of view of mechanical strength and leak tightness.

Refractory fuels and high-temperature fuel elements
The Soviet Journal of Atomic Energy, 1960On the basis of foreign material presented at the Second International Conference on the Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy (Geneva, 1958), we consider aspects of the production and use of fuel elements (F E) with uranium dioxide cores in tubular and laminar sheaths and also aspects of the use of uranium and thorium carbides and oxides for F E of high ...
