A study of the effects of long-term exposure to fuels and fluids on the behavior of advanced composite materials [PDF]

open access: yes
The Task 1 (thirty-six-month) and Task 2 (twelve-month) exposure of composite materials to fuel and fluid environments are reported. Narmco T300/5209 (Task 1) shows no significant degradation.

Metal–Organic Frameworks for Gaseous Pollutant Management: From Capture to Neutralization and Reutilization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review maps how MOFs can manage hazardous gases by combining adsorption, neutralization, and reutilization, enabling sustainable air‐pollution control. Covering chemical warfare agent simulants, SO2, NOx, NH3, H2S, and volatile organic compounds, it highlights structure‐guided strategies that boost selectivity, water tolerance, and cycling ...

Fuel-rich catalytic combustion of Jet-A fuel-equivalence ratios 5.0 to 8.0 [PDF]

open access: yes
Fuel-rich catalytic combustion (E.R. greater than 5.0) is a unique technique for preheating a hydrocarbon fuel to temperatures much higher than those obtained by conventional heat exchangers.

Used cooking oil as a source for biodiesel blend [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
With the depleted world petroleum reserves and increase demand for oil as a fuel, it has become imperative to investigate the possibility of using non-fossil fuel as an alternative fuel for diesel engine.

Adaptive Hydrogels With Spatiotemporal Stiffening Using pH‐Modulating Enzymes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The chemomechanical coupling in an adaptive hydrogel is studied to further the development of adaptive hydrogels. This coupling is achieved by embedding a pH‐modulating enzyme in a pH‐responsive hydrogel. The enzymatic reaction can be triggered locally, which generates a pH‐decreasing wave throughout the system, increasing the crosslinking density and ...

Inspired by the Seeking Knowledge Strategy for Analects of Confucius to Screen Highly Electrochemically Active Porous Carbon: The Critical Source of Electroactive Sites

open access: yesSmall Structures
In this work, the forestry wastes are converted into a series of porous carbons using H3PO4 activation. These porous carbons feature a large specific surface area (1045.20 m2 g−1) and porosity that combines micro‐, meso‐, and macropores in various ...

Tissue‐Stimulator Platform for Electrically Stimulating Pancreatic β‐Cells for Long‐Term Functional Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a tissue‐stimulator platform for seamless electrode integration with pancreatic tissue, applying uniform electrical stimulation through optimized design with biohybrid 3D printing. Advantageous effects of electrical stimulation on β‐cell function were observed, including enhanced calcium signaling, islet morphology, and maturation.
