Design and testing of a microchannel reactor for the PROX reaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The different steps for manufacturing a microchannel reactor for the PROX reaction are discussed. Transient Liquid Phase bonding (TLP) using a Ni-B-Si amorphous melt spun is used for joining micromilled Al-alloyed ferritic stainless steel plates followed

Breaking the Durability–Power Trade‐Off: Boron‐Directed Faceted O3 Cathodes for High‐Rate Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Boron‐oxide‐assisted particle engineering stabilizes O3‐type layered cathodes for sodium‐ion batteries by mitigating phase transitions and lattice strain. Acting as flux and structural modifier, boron forms submicron hexagonal platelets with (003) facets and expanded Na‐layer spacing, enabling rapid Na⁺ diffusion and mechanical resilience.

Freeze-cast yttria-stabilized zirconia pore networks: Effects of alcohol additives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Freeze casting yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) can be useful in making electrodes for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) by introducing hierarchical porosity to increase triple-phase boundary (TPB) area while maintaining adequate fuel flow.

Real‐time fault detection in multicomponent nuclear‐waste slurries through data fusion of spectroscopic sensors

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Three instruments–Raman spectroscopy, attenuated total reflectance–Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and focused beam reflectance measurement–were used to detect sensor faults, mixing faults, and unanticipated chemistry in a system of multicomponent slurries.

The Impact of Organic Constituents in Coal Chemical Wastewater on Additive Adsorption at the Coal Surface: Experimental Investigation and Molecular Dynamics Simulation

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Direct preparation of coal–water slurry using coal chemical wastewater represents an economical and feasible approach for wastewater resource utilization. Unlike clean water, however, the complex organic components in wastewater may exert adverse effects on slurry properties.

Homologous Bio‐Tar and Bio‐Tar Pitch as Co‐Carbonization Agents in the Preparation of Mesophase Pitch

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The present work systematically compares the performance differences between two novel homologous materials employed as co‐carbonization agents in the synthesis of mesophase pitch. Low‐cost FCC slurry was used as the raw material, with bio‐tar (BT) and bio‐tar pitch (BTP) as co‐carbonization agents.
