Real‐time fault detection in multicomponent nuclear‐waste slurries through data fusion of spectroscopic sensors

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Three instruments–Raman spectroscopy, attenuated total reflectance–Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and focused beam reflectance measurement–were used to detect sensor faults, mixing faults, and unanticipated chemistry in a system of multicomponent slurries.

Study on the Synergistic Effects and Optimization of Flotation Reagent Blends Under Low Reagent Consumption

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Under low reagent dosage, the flotation performance of diesel as a collector was enhanced, and the synergistic mechanism of diesel blended with oleic acid and CTAB was investigated. Results showed that compared to pure diesel, the oleic acid blended system (Blend A) increased clean coal yield by 81.52% to 92.24%, while the CTAB blended system (

Improved Dry‐Pressing Strategy for Fabricating Double‐Sided Rough YSZ Electrolyte Thin Films and Their Performance in Solid Oxide Cells

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study addresses limitations of the conventional dry‐pressing method for electrolyte‐supported films—smooth surfaces, excessive thickness, and fragile supports inducing damage. We propose an innovative camphor–quartz sand composite architecture to construct a five‐layer (camphor/quartz sand/YSZ/quartz sand/camphor) system, enabling thin ...

Combustion mechanisms of coal slurry fuels.

open access: yes, 1986
The formation and subsequent burnout behaviour of coal slurry fuel chars has been studied using a suspended single droplet technique and solid sampling techniques in large turbulent diffusion flames. Both these techniques yielded comparable results on the structure of carbonaceous residues from a range of coal slurry fuels containing coals of different

Technobiological Pathways for High‐CO₂ Capture Using Micro‐/Macroalgae: Genetic Engineering, Process Automation, and Value‐Added Bioproducts

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions have emerged as one of the most critical drivers of climate change; this is primarily due to high concentrations and long atmospheric life of carbon dioxide (CO2). For a significant amount of time, various biological processes such as microalgal cultivation, cyanobacterial systems, photosynthetic microorganisms ...

Preparation and characterization of metakaolin-based Ag0-containing sorbent beads for iodine capture

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology
We report metakaolin (MK)-based sorbents with high metallic silver(Ag0) content for maximizing iodine uptake per unit volume. Spherical beads were fabricated by a droplet method using slurries with various Na/M (M = Na + Al + Si) and H2O/Na2O molar ...

Technologies in deep and ultra-deep well drilling: Present status, challenges and future trend in the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016–2020)

open access: yesNatural Gas Industry B, 2017
During the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011–2015), CNPC independently developed a series of new drilling equipment, tools and chemical materials for deep and ultra-deep wells, including six packages of key drilling equipment: rigs for wells up to 8000

Synthesis and Application of Conductive Pitch‐Based Porous Carbon for Energy Storage Device as a Supercapacitor

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Conductive pitch‐based porous carbon materials were synthesized and systematically investigated as high‐performance electrode materials for supercapacitors. Petroleum‐derived pitch was thermally treated and chemically activated using KOH and NaOH at different pitch: activating agent molar ratio (1:1, 1:2, and 1:4) to optimize the pore ...

Flow resistance reduction of coal water slurry through gas phase addition

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2016
One of the main advantages of coal water slurry fuel (CWS) is a physical form that allows, among others, their transfer by pipelines over long distances.

Green Fuel Combustion Synthesis of CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 Nanoparticles for Photocatalytic and Antibacterial Applications

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Silver‐doped cerium oxide nanoparticles (Ag/CeO2 NPs) were synthesized using Ricinus communis seed extract as a bio‐derived fuel in a solution combustion method. The combustion reaction, carried out at 450°C with AgNO3 and (NH4)2[Ce (NO3)6] as metal precursors, produced CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 NPs.
