Regulation of Excitonic Behavior in Defective Acetylenic Polymers Enables Mechanism Switching in O2 Activation for Enhanced Water Decontamination

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A molecular defect‐mediated charge accumulation strategy is developed to regulate the exciton behavior for selective molecular oxygen (O2)activation in poly(1,3,5‐triethynylbenzene) (PTEB). Artificial internal electric field (IEF) constructed in defective PTEB provides internal driving force to steer the directed migration of charge carriers, thereby ...

Social and family factors as determinants of exercise habits in Japanese elementary school children: a cross-sectional study from the Super Shokuiku School Project

open access: yesEnvironmental Health and Preventive Medicine, 2020
Background Many studies have already reported on the relationship between exercise habits and health among schoolchildren. However, few have examined social and/or family factors as determinants of exercise habits.

Sub-millimeter Observations of Giant Molecular Clouds in the Large Magellanic Cloud: Temperature and Density as Determined from J=3-2 and J=1-0 transitions of CO [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We have carried out sub-mm 12CO(J=3-2) observations of 6 giant molecular clouds (GMCs) in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) with the ASTE 10m sub-mm telescope at a spatial resolution of 5 pc and very high sensitivity.

Atom Condensed Fukui Function in Condensed Phases and Biological Systems and Its Application to Enzymatic Fixation of Carbon Dioxide.

open access: yesJournal of Physical Chemistry A, 2020
Local reactivity descriptors such as atom condensed Fukui functions are promising computational tools to study chemical reactivity at specific sites within a molecule. Their applications have been mainly focused on isolated molecules in their most stable

Ligand‐Induced Electronic Response Enables Predictive QM/MM Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM) simulations are powerful tools for modeling complex molecular systems; however, their predictability has been constrained by the ambiguous definition of the QM region. An electronically informed protocol is introduced that defines QM regions by quantifying guest‐induced orbital shifts and charge ...

Bosonic Structure of a 2-Dimensional Fermion Model with Interaction among Different Speices [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We study a massive Thirring-like model in 2-dimensional space-time, which contains two different species of fermions. This model is a field theoretical version of the quantum mechanical model originally proposed by Gl\"{o}ckle, Nogami and Fukui, where ...

Decoding Proton‐Coupled Electron Transfer Mechanism of Nicotine for Multi‐Scenario Portable Electrochemical Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A key challenge in nicotine electroanalysis is the unresolved complexity of its interface process, which directly determines sensor metrics. Herein, the proton‐coupled electron transfer mechanism of nicotine is decoded for multi‐scenario portable electrochemical sensing.

Inventory and Evolution of Mitochondrion-localized Family A DNA Polymerases in Euglenozoa

open access: yesPathogens, 2020
The order Trypanosomatida has been well studied due to its pathogenicity and the unique biology of the mitochondrion. In Trypanosoma brucei, four DNA polymerases, namely PolIA, PolIB, PolIC, and PolID, related to bacterial DNA polymerase I (PolI), were ...

Rapid and Direct Detection of Methamphetamine in Biofluids using a MXene‐Enabled Electrochemical Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A MXene‐enhanced electrochemical sensor enables the rapid and direct detection of methamphetamine. Molecular simulations reveal that specific MXene surface functional groups act as key signal amplifiers by facilitating interfacial interactions. The sensor demonstrates high sensitivity and robust performance in complex biological matrices.

Two separate neural pathways, lateral and medial, for sensory decisions in mammals: switching of attention between the outer and inner cognitive worlds

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience
Mammalian sensory cortices detect changes both inside and outside of the body. They identify sensory information from the surrounding world, evaluate the current situation, and generate top-down signals to induce emotional and behavioral outputs.
