Since the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident, decision support systems (DSS) for supporting response of the decision makers in emergencies have been developed and refined. Data available from real accidents are used to validate these systems, thus demonstrating their real capabilities and finally to improve them.

Current trends of 137Cs concentrations in coastal waters near the Fukushima Daiichi NPP
Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2015Temporal changes of 137Cs concentrations in coastal waters near the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (FDNPP) were examined until January 2015. The 137Cs concentrations in coastal waters gradually decreased till the end of 2014. Sporadic high 137Cs concentrations in coastal waters, exceeding 1 kBq m−3, were observed in 2014.

Impact of the TEPCO Fukushima-Daiichi NPP accident, FNPP1, to the North Pacific Ocean occurred through two pathways, namely direct release and atmospheric deposition to wide ocean surface. We collected more than 100 seawater samples in the North Pacific Ocean in April and May 2011 by seven commercial ships as VOS.

Analysis of Fukushima Daiichi NPP unit 3 with Melcor_2.1
2015During the major accident occurred at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power station in March 2011, three units of the nuclear power plants suffered extensive damage to the reactors and buildings. It is widely believed that all three reactor cores experienced some melting. In particular for unit 3, there is not a general agreement on the extent of the core
