An Annotated List of Auchenorrhyncha and Heteroptera Collected in the Coastal Salt Marshes of the Mississippi Delta in Louisiana

open access: yesPsyche: A Journal of Entomology, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
Insects that live in the saltwater and brackish marshes, which fringe the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico, are largely unstudied. During 2011–2013, a survey of insect fauna of the coastal salt marshes of the Mississippi Delta in Louisiana was conducted.

A new species of planthopper in the genus Melanoliarus (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha: Fulgoroidea: Cixiidae) from coconut palms (Cocos nucifera) in Trinidad.

open access: yesZootaxa, 2023
During a survey in Trinidad and Grenada for putative vectors of palm lethal decline phytoplasmas, three species of planthopper in the genus Melanoliarus (Hemiptera, Cixiidae) were collected. Melanoliarus maidis was collected from coconut palms in Grenada,

The loss of the urea cycle and ornithine metabolism in different insect orders: An omics approach

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, Volume 34, Issue 5, Page 632-644, October 2025.
Among urea cycle enzymes, only the nitric oxide synthase gene is universally present across insect genomes. All Hemiptera species lack the enzymes needed to convert citrulline to arginine, and some also lack the pathway from arginine to ornithine. Putrescine and spermidine synthesis is conserved in all insects, but aphids lack the capability to produce

First detection of apple proliferation and pear decline phytoplasmas in Luxembourg

open access: yesEPPO Bulletin, Volume 55, Issue 2, Page 320-327, August 2025.
Abstract The present article reports the first detection of the apple proliferation and pear decline phytoplasmas (‘Candidatus Phytoplasma mali’ and ‘Ca. P. pyri’, respectively) in Luxembourg. These phytoplasmas, belonging to the 'Apple Proliferation group' 16SrX, are causing severe losses in European fruit tree production, respectively, on apple ...
