Assimilation of Satellite‐Based Forest Biomass, Productivity and Leaf Area Index in a Global Land Model Incorporating Parameter Spatial Variations and Age Effects

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, Volume 18, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Disturbances profoundly impact forest capacity for sequestering and storing carbon, and the recovery rates after disturbances vary geographically. Many terrestrial carbon models inadequately simulate the effects of forest disturbances on biomass due to their reliance on equilibrium assumptions, the absence of historical disturbance data, as ...

Adaptation and Response in Drylands: A Dryland Research Agenda and Campaign Strategy

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 32, Issue 7, July 2026.
The Adaptation and Response in Drylands (ARID) campaign was selected by NASA as a scoping study to develop a research agenda for a dryland field campaign. Here, we detail our ARID science research agenda and implementation plan that were developed based on an extensive community engagement effort in over 160 events with over a thousand scientists, land

Short‐Wavelength Infrared Imaging with Organic Photodetectors Based on Non‐Fullerene Acceptors with Detection above 1200 nm

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 31, 2 June 2026.
Solution‐processed organic photodetectors (OPDs) based on two novel low band gap non‐fullerene acceptors BZIC‐2F and BZIC‐2Cl, when blended with common polymer donor P3HT, extend detection range beyond 1200 nm with superior performance, rivaling costly inorganic sensors and past literature.

Full-Waveform LiDAR Pixel Analysis for Low-Growing Vegetation Mapping of Coastal Foredunes in Western France

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
The monitoring of coastal sand dunes requires regular high-resolution aerial photography along hundreds of kilometers of coastal strips. Light detection and ranging (LiDAR) is now the most widely used method for detailed topographic and vegetation ...

A Study on Factors Affecting Airborne LiDAR Penetration

open access: yesTerrestrial, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, 2015
This study uses data from different periods, areas and parameters of airborne LiDAR (light detection and ranging) surveys to understand the factors that influence airborne LiDAR penetration rate.

Managing full waveform LiDAR data: A challenging task for the forthcoming years

open access: yes, 2008
This paper proposes to summarize researches and new advances in full waveform lidar data. After a description of full waveform lidar systems, we will review different methodologies developed to process the waveforms (modelling, correlation, stacking). Applications on urban and vegetated areas are then presented.

Small Footprint Full-Waveform Metrics Contribution to the Prediction of Biomass in Tropical Forests

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2014
We tested metrics from full-waveform (FW) LiDAR (light detection and ranging) as predictors for forest basal area (BA) and aboveground biomass (AGB), in a tropical moist forest.
