Chiral Acoustic Phonon and Conservation of Pseudoangular Momentum in α‐Quartz

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Chiral acoustic phonons in α‐quartz are probed via Brillouin light scattering, exploiting the photon's helicity and the crystal's handedness. The interaction obeys a selection rule arising from pseudoangular momentum conservation, enabling direct optical access to phonon chirality in nonsymmorphic crystals.

Ceramics—The Forgotten but Essential Ingredients for a Circular Economy on the Moon

open access: yesCeramics
Settlement on the Moon will require full exploitation of its resources if such settlements are to be permanent. Such in situ resource utilisation (ISRU) has primarily been focused on accessing water ice at the lunar poles and the use of raw lunar ...

Positive Association of lunar Phases with The Incidence Rate Acute Myocardial Infarction [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cardio-Thoracic Medicine
Introduction: In addition to primary internal risk factors, certain external factors have been suggested as possible factors pertaining to development of acute myocardial infarction including lunar phases as well as circadian cycles and season changes ...

Temporal effects on death by suicide: empirical evidence and possible molecular correlates

open access: yesDiscover Mental Health, 2023
Popular culture and medical lore have long postulated a connection between full moon and exacerbations of psychiatric disorders. We wanted to empirically analyze the hypothesis that suicides are increased during the period around full moons.

Flatness of the setting Sun [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Atmospheric refraction is responsible for the bending of light-rays in the atmosphere. It is a result of the continuous decrease in the refractive index of the air as a function of altitude.

Mesenchymal Stem Cell‐Inspired Microneedle Platform for NIR‐responsive Immunomodulation and Accelerated Chronic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The research demonstrates a Mesenchymal Stem Cell‐inspired microneedle platform (MSCi@MN) that addresses chronic diabetic wounds by combining MSC‐derived extracellular nanovesicles (NV)–DNA conjugates in microneedle tips with photothermal MXene in the patch layer.

NUMERICAL MODELING OF MOON ASTEROID IMPACTS TSUNAMIS ON THE MOON [PDF]

open access: yesScience of Tsunami Hazards, 2017
Asteroid impacts on the moon were modeled using the full Navier-Stokes AMR. Eulerian compressible hydrodynamic code called MAGNS. The size of the cavity and its time history are strongly dependent upon the strength characteristics of the moon rock.

Recent Advances in Collective Behaviors of Micro/Nanomotor Swarms

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review describes the driving forces behind collective motion, explores the self‐organization of micro/nano swarms across zero‐dimensional (0D), one‐dimensional (1D), two‐dimensional (2D), and three‐dimensional (3D) spaces, and highlights their potential in drug delivery, environmental monitoring, and smart devices.
