Solubility of Light Fullerenes in Organic Solvents

open access: yes, 2016
Experimental and literature data concerning the solubility of individual light fullerenes (C60 and C70) in binary (individual fullerene + solvent), ternary (C60 + C70 fullerenes + solvent; C60 or C70 fullerenes + solvent 1 + solvent 2), and ...

A Chiral Saddle‐Shaped Nanographene With Two Heptagon‐Embedded [4]Helicenes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
We present a novel synthetic strategy toward a chiral saddle‐shaped nanographene (cSNG) via a two‐step oxidation of a prochiral anthracene precursor. The Scholl‐type oxidation first yields a key intermediate with sp3‐defect heptagons, and subsequent oxidative dehydrogenation affords fully conjugated cSNG.

Toward 4-Dimensional Fullerenes

open access: yes, 1998
We explore the existence of high-dimensional analogues of fullerenes F n (i.e. of simple polyhedra with only 5- and 6-gonal faces) seen as (d \Gamma 1)-dimensional simple manifolds (preferably, polytopal or at least spherical) with only 5- and 6-gonal 2-

Inorganic nanotubes and fullerenes

open access: yes, 2001
The possibility of stable non-carbon fullerenes is discussed for the case of phosphorus fullerene-like cage structures. On the basis of Density Functional Tight Binding calculations it is shown that many such cages correspond to metastable structures ...

Biomedical Application of Fullerenes

open access: yes, 2011
Fullerene, the third carbon allotrope, is a classical engineered material with the potential application in biomedicine. Since their discovery in 1985, fullerenes have been extensively investigated.

Modelling and Thropology of Fullerenes

open access: yes, 1999
The dodecahedron C20 structure has been modified to all possible fullerenes up to C40 with the help of simple isoperimetric transformations. The new type of rectangular 5õ12 matrix has been suggested for fullerenes.

Marine silicon for biomedical sustainability

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Schematic illustrating marine silicon for biomedical engineering. Abstract Despite momentous divergence from oceanic origin, human beings and marine organisms exhibit elemental homology through silicon utilization. Notably, silicon serves as a critical constituent in multiple biomedical processes.
