Carbon Dots: An Emerging Frontier for Green and Sustainable Civil Engineering Materials

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
Traditional civil engineering materials (CE materials) are usually involved with high‐energy consumption during manufacturing, significant maintenance costs, and substantial environmental impacts throughout their life cycles. The progress of nanotechnology is catalyzing a green and sustainable transformation within the field.

Two‐Colored Organic Photovoltaic Modules Enabled by Laser Annealing

open access: yesSolar RRL, Volume 10, Issue 12, 28 June 2026.
A CO2 laser is used to perform contactless and spatially resolved annealing of P3HT:O‐IDTBR solar cells and modules. The optical, electrical, and morphological properties of such laser‐annealed devices are investigated and compared to classical hotplate annealing. Finally, upscaling of the laser annealing process yields two‐colored OPV modules with 6.0%

Three‐Step Synthesis Toward Fluorene‐Based Non‐Fused‐Ring Acceptors for Organic Solar Cells

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 24, 23 June 2026.
Applying a simple three step synthesis strategy leads to two fluorene‐based non‐fused‐ring electron acceptors, FHM‐Cl and FHM‐F for organic solar cells. The chlorinated variant delivers markedly higher efficiency due to broader light harvesting and favorable molecular packing, resulting in improved charge transport and reduced recombination losses ...

On the Photo‐Oxidation of Organic Photovoltaic Materials: The Case of PTQ10 and PM6 Blends With Y6‐12

open access: yesSolar RRL, Volume 10, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
Wantz et al. reveal how donor–acceptor interactions govern light‐induced degradation in organic solar cells. PTQ10 is destabilized, whereas PM6 is partially stabilized by Y6‐12. Crystallinity suppresses photo‐oxidation while modulating performance, defining key design principles for efficient, long‐lived organic photovoltaics.
