Insights from the Presidential Addresses to the Agricultural Economics Society
ABSTRACT The Society's published presidential addresses have embraced a wide range of subject matter, reflecting a ‘road well travelled’ in agricultural economics. The areas covered include the development and use of data and statistics, lessons from history, sectoral analysis, land economics, international trade and international development.

A moving baseline for evaluation of advanced coal extraction systems [PDF]
Results from the initial effort to establish baseline economic performance comparators for a program whose intent is to define, develop, and demonstrate advanced systems suitable for coal resource extraction beyond the year 2000 are reported.

Heidegger and Levinas on the phenomenology of the hand: Between work and gesture
Abstract This article explores how Heidegger and Levinas develop distinct phenomenological accounts of the hand. Both thinkers refuse to treat the hand as merely an anatomical organ, instead viewing it as an essential dimension of human existence. Yet their interpretations diverge sharply. In the first section, I show how Heidegger grounds the function

Design of Initial Mining Pressure Relief Scheme for Large‐Size Mining Face: A Case Study
The numerical simulation analysis method is used to compare the actual mining face (315 m) with the designed mining face (200 m). The results show that the large mining height working face has larger abutment pressure peak and stress concentration factor than the general mining height working face.

Influence Mechanism of Main Roof Height on Surrounding Rock Stability of Gob-Side Entry Driving [PDF]
The main roof directly affects the stress environment and the control effect of the surrounding rock of gob-side entry driving. A mechanical model of the surrounding rock of gob-side entry driving was established to analyze the influence mechanism of ...

Study on the development law of advancing support pressure on fully mechanized caving face
Abstract In order to master the law of pressure manifestation in fully mechanized caving face, numerical simulation method is adopted to establish a physical and mechanical model for analysis. The results show that the load on the working face support is mainly the deformation pressure produced by the deformation of the top coal and the ...
