Species‐specific processing of fluorescent dissolved organic matter by Caribbean sponges

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 71, Issue 6, June 2026.
Coral reefs are biodiverse and productive ecosystems that are found in typically oligotrophic environments. Many studies have attempted to explain this paradox by demonstrating that microbial symbionts expand metabolic capabilities of host animals.

Integrated Soil Salinisation Management Strategies in Agriculture

open access: yesModern Agriculture, Volume 4, Issue 1, June 2026.
This review synthesises integrated water, agronomic, and biochemical strategies for managing soil salinisation, presenting a decision framework for selecting cost‐effective amendments based on initial soil assessment and long‐term sustainability monitoring. ABSTRACT Soil salinisation poses a global threat to agricultural sustainability, affecting about

Valorizing Landfill Gas Condensate as an External Carbon Source for Denitrification in Sewage–Landfill Leachate Co‐Treatment

open access: yesWater Environment Research, Volume 98, Issue 6, June 2026.
This study showed that landfill gas condensate can replace conventional liquid carbon sources for denitrification in SBRs, achieving similarly high nitrogen removal without leaving refractory organic residues, while also beneficially reusing a landfill byproduct to improve sustainability and reduce reliance on purchased carbon.

Moderate Fire Temperatures Affect the Structure of Clayey Oxisol Aggregates

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, Volume 37, Issue 8, Page 3169-3181, 15 May 2026.
ABSTRACT Wildfires have become increasingly frequent and intense worldwide, raising concerns about their impacts on soil systems. However, the thermal responses of clay‐rich Oxisols, dominated by Fe and Al oxides, remain poorly understood. In this study, samples from the 0 to 5 cm layer of six Oxisols were subjected to controlled heating at ...

Fulvic acid promotes cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) growth and nitrogen use efficiency under moderate nitrogen deficit in soilless culture

open access: yesJournal of Agriculture and Food Research
Over-fertilisation is common in horticulture, leading to low crop nutrient use efficiency and risk of releasing reactive nitrogen in the environment. Fulvic acid can improve plant biomass and nutrient use efficiency, especially under limited nitrogen ...

Sustainable Graphene Oxide–Intercalated Bentonite Composite for the Effective Removal of Imidacloprid From Water: Adsorption Performance, Isotherm, and Kinetics

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 21, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
ABSTRACT Water is a fundamental necessity for our existence, but its rapid contamination is causing devastating effects on the environment and health of living species worldwide. Adsorptive removal of pollutants is one of the popular water treatment techniques because of its simplicity, affordability, and the broad range of available adsorbents.
