Synthetic fulvic acids have been prepared from each of catechol, hydroquinone, resorcinol, vanillin, glucose and gallic acid with and without glycine as the source of nitrogen by air oxidation in 0·5N sodium hydroxide solution at 32° in presence of clay, silt and sand fractions of soil as catalysts.
