Abstract In recent years, the escalating application of nitrogen fertilizers in global vegetable production has positioned vegetable fields as significant sources of nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions, eliciting widespread environmental concern. However, the interrelationships among fertilizer reduction gradients, soil physicochemical properties, microbial ...

Fumigant toxicity of five essential oils rich in ketones against Sitophilus zeamais (Motschulsky)
Essential oils (EOs) and individual compounds act as fumigants against insects found in stored products. In fumigant assays, Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky adults were treated with essential oils derived from Aphyllocladus decussatus Hieron, Aloysia polystachya Griseb, Minthostachys verticillata, Griseb Epling and Tagetes minuta

Efficacy of Putative Botanical Fumigants and Fungicides Against Soil‐Borne Fungal Pathogens in Wheat
ABSTRACT The negative effects of pesticides for humans and environment have encouraged research into natural control means to protect crops from biotic stresses. This study evaluated the antifungal activity and phytotoxicity of seven natural putative inhibitory products (PIPs), as well their persistence, under both in vitro and in vivo conditions.

The “Pesticide Chip”: Chemical Legacies and Agrarian Futures in Costa Rica
Abstract For decades, agro‐industrial capital has adopted cascading chemical and biotechnical interventions, or fixes, to secure accumulation through the cultivation of monocrops. We develop a framework that centres on how monocrop‐induced susceptibility to pests and pathogens—and the patchwork of fixes to address these—produces uneven chemical ...
