Measurable Residual Disease Monitoring During Treatment for Pediatric Acute Myeloid Leukemia in First Relapse

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Survival after relapse in pediatric acute myeloid leukemia (AML) remains poor, highlighting the critical importance of identifying prognostic factors to guide optimal relapse management. Methods We investigated the prognostic impact of multiparameter flow cytometry (MFC) measurable residual disease (MRD) in 188 patients with first ...

Genome-Wide Exploration of the WD40 Gene Family in Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) and Analysis of Its Function in Fruit Color Formation

open access: yesAgronomy
The WD40 gene family is a highly conserved protein family in plants that plays a crucial role in various life activities. Although eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) genome sequencing has been completed, there is limited research on the WD40 family in ...

c.98 + 3A>G and c.155 + 1G>T splice-site variants in the ABO*B.01 allele lead to weak antigen expression in the Chinese individuals

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
BackgroundMany variants within the ABO gene across multiple subtypes have been identified. These variants are located in the coding region, the erythroid-specific regulatory element region of intron 1, splice sites, and other non-coding regions. However,

T2* Magnetic Resonance Imaging Uncovers Hemosiderin Burden in Pediatric Hemophilia: A Call for Sensitive Imaging Biomarkers

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hemophilic arthropathy remains the leading morbidity in hemophilia despite modern prophylaxis, and early joint damage may be missed by routine exams. This study explored T2* MRI as a noninvasive biomarker of hemosiderin deposition in pediatric hemophilia.

Survival by Race and Ethnicity in Children and Adolescents/Young Adults With Relapsed/Refractory Hodgkin Lymphoma: A Pooled Analysis of Children's Oncology Group Trials

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Despite 5‐year survival rates of over 90% among children and adolescents/young adults (CAYAs) with classic Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL), 15%–20% relapse after frontline therapy. Prior analysis of frontline Children's Oncology Group (COG) clinical trials demonstrated that, despite similar rates of relapse, non‐Hispanic Black (NHB) and ...

Protocol for ultracentrifugation-based isolation and characterization of extracellular vesicles from FGF2-primed astrocytes

open access: yesSTAR Protocols
Summary: Extracellular vesicles (EVs) mediate intercellular communication by transferring bioactive molecular cargo. We present a protocol for isolating EVs from fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF2)-primed primary mouse astrocytes using differential ...

The Relationship Between Physical Activity and Left Ventricular Remodeling in Childhood Cancer Survivors Treated With Anthracyclines: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Anthracycline‐related cardiac remodeling precedes heart failure in childhood cancer survivors. The objectives of this study were to determine the relationships between patient‐specific factors, moderate‐to‐vigorous physical activity (MVPA), and cardiac remodeling.

Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Survival in Western Kenya: Reduction in Early Deaths and Treatment Abandonment

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background An earlier study on children diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Kenya reported a low event‐free survival (EFS), excess treatment abandonment, and high induction mortality.

ASSIST: Refinement of a Benefits Navigator Intervention Among Low‐Income Pediatric Oncology Families

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Children with cancer living in poverty experience worse survival and quality of life. Interventions connecting low‐income families to benefits (e.g., Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program [SNAP] improve health outcomes; yet nearly 50% of SNAP‐eligible pediatric oncology families are unenrolled.

Functional Characterization of F3H Gene and Optimization of Dihydrokaempferol Biosynthesis in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

open access: yesMolecules
The 1092 bp F3H gene from Trapa bispinosa Roxb., which was named TbF3H, was cloned and it encodes 363 amino acids. Bioinformatic and phylogenetic tree analyses revealed the high homology of TbF3H with flavanone 3-hydroxylase from other plants.
