Nocturnal Lepidopterans as Essential Pollinators of Aspidosperma pyrifolium (Apocynaceae), a Keystone Tree in the Caatinga Dry Forest

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pollination is a key ecosystem service, yet most studies focus on diurnal interactions, often overlooking nocturnal pollinators such as hawkmoths and settling moths. In arid environments, nocturnal pollination plays a crucial role in maintaining native plant species of high biocultural value, as seen in the Caatinga dry forest.

Creative Discretion on the Frontline of Public Services: A Longitudinal Qualitative Digital Diary and Interview Study

open access: yesPublic Administration, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT “Creative discretion”—defined as street‐level bureaucrats' use of their discretion to generate novel and useful ideas for customizing services to meet the needs of service users, superiors, and themselves—is vital as governments shift from traditional public management to a more user‐centered approach, emphasizing responsiveness over ...

Metabolomic and Single‐Cell Transcriptomic Analyses Shed Light on Secondary Metabolite Profiling and Potential Developmental Dynamics of Glandular Trichomes in Artemisia argyi

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Plant glandular trichomes (GTs) are characterised by their ability to synthesise and store abundant secondary metabolites of significant biological importance. The medicinal plant Artemisia argyi exhibits a dense covering of GTs, yet the precise metabolic compositions and the developmental molecular dynamics of A.

Improving the interoperability of a Function-as-a-Service platform using an orchestration framework with a cloud-agnostic approach

open access: yesETRI Journal
Function-as-a-Service (FaaS) applications suffer from cold-start latency owing to their high execution time and memory usage. We propose a FaaS orchestra-tion framework based on a cloud-agnostic approach for application and data interoperability.

Elucidating the Genetic Basis of Columnar Upright Architecture in Populus Through CRISPR Disruption of TILLER ANGLE CONTROL1

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Narrow or upright branch angles in shoots and leaves lead to columnar, upright‐growing tree architectures, as observed in various tree species such as Lombardy poplar (Populus nigra var. italica). However, the genetic mechanism underlying this unique growth habit in Lombardy poplar has not yet been elucidated.

Scalable Cold-Start Optimization in Serverless Computing: Leveraging Function Fusion With PanOpticon Simulator

open access: yesIEEE Access
Serverless computing has transformed cloud computing with its inherent scalability, pay-as-you-go pricing model, and low-latency execution. However, cold-start delays arising from the on-demand initialization of execution environments such as containers ...

Improved Longan Genome Assembly Reveals Insights Into Flowering Mechanisms

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Longan is an exotic tropical fruit crop and exhibits off‐season flowering induced by potassium chlorate (KClO3), though the molecular mechanisms remain unclear. We assembled a high‐quality, 441.5 Mb genome of variety ‘Shixia’, with a contig N50 at 28.1 Mb, 29, 325 protein‐coding genes, 26 telomeres and 15 centromeres.
