The functions of space

Journal of Advanced Nursing, 1994
This paper describes a participant observation study carried out on a ward for elderly functionally ill people in a large psychiatric hospital in the Midlands, England. My initial interest was in observing the process of institutionalization, and attempts made to counter this process.

Spaces of Harmonic Functions

Journal of the London Mathematical Society, 2000
The paper is mainly concerned with the dimensions of certain spaces of harmonic functions on a complete Riemannian manifold \(M\) of dimension \(n\). It is shown that the study of harmonic functions on \(M\) can be reduced to the study of harmonic functions on each end of \(M\).

Function Spaces

Canadian Journal of Mathematics, 1953
This paper is the first in a series dealing with Banach spaces L whose elements are functions on a measure space S. If W is a family of non-negative weight functions wα we sometimes write LWp when the norm is given ...

SPACES OF NETWORK FUNCTIONS

Mathematics of the USSR-Sbornik, 1971
In this paper, difference analogs of Sobolev–Slobodeckiĭ spaces are studied: , where is either the whole space or a halfspace. One obtains difference analogs of imbedding theorems, on traces and on extensions of network functions from a halfspace to the whole space with preservation of class. Bibliography: 19 items.

The Function Space of an Activity

2006 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition - Volume 1 (CVPR'06), 2006
An activity consists of an actor performing a series of actions in a pre-defined temporal order. An action is an individual atomic unit of an activity. Different instances of the same activity may consist of varying relative speeds at which the various actions are executed, in addition to other intra- and inter- person variabilities.

Connectivity of Function Spaces

Canadian Journal of Mathematics, 1971
Given two spaces X and Y with Y either an AE (metrizable) or ANE (metrizable), little is known with regard to when the function space (Yx, τ), for some topology τ, is an AE (metrizable) or ANE (metrizable) except when very strong separation properties are imposed on X and Y (see [5, pp. 186-189]).
