Analytic functional bootstrap for CFTs in d > 1 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
Abstract We introduce analytic functionals which act on the crossing equation for CFTs in arbitrary spacetime dimension. The functionals fully probe the constraints of crossing symmetry on the first sheet, and are in particular sensitive to the OPE, (double) lightcone and Regge limits.

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...

Performance of an adipokine pathway-based multilocus genetic risk score for prostate cancer risk prediction. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Few biomarkers are available to predict prostate cancer risk. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) tend to have weak individual effects but, in combination, they have stronger predictive value.

Statistical inference on representational geometries

open access: yeseLife, 2023
Neuroscience has recently made much progress, expanding the complexity of both neural activity measurements and brain-computational models. However, we lack robust methods for connecting theory and experiment by evaluating our new big models with our new

Normal‐Appearing White Matter Injury Mediates Chronic Deep Venous Hypoxia and Disease Progression in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore how cerebral hypoxia and Normal‐Appearing White Matter (NAWM) integrity affect MS lesion burden and clinical course. Methods Seventy‐nine MS patients, including 13 clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) patients and 66 relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients, and 44 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited from ...

A comparison of three methods in categorizing functional status to predict hospital readmission across post-acute care.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
BackgroundMethods used to categorize functional status to predict health outcomes across post-acute care settings vary significantly.ObjectivesWe compared three methods that categorize functional status to predict 30-day and 90-day hospital readmission ...

Longitudinal Assessment of Biomarkers in ALS: Discriminative Biomarkers for Disease Progression and Survival

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To assess the association and discriminative performance of serum biomarkers with clinical disease progression and survival in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Methods This retrospective study, conducted at Houston Methodist Hospital, Houston, TX, used longitudinal serum samples collected between January 2018 and ...

Genetic variations (eQTLs) in muscle transcriptome and mitochondrial genes, and trans-eQTL molecular pathways in feed efficiency from Danish breeding pigs.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Feed efficiency (FE) is a key trait in pig production, as improvement in FE has positive economic and environmental impact. FE is a complex phenotype and testing animals for FE is costly.

Screening Routine Clinical Notes for Epilepsy Surgery Candidates Using Large Language Models

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Epilepsy surgery is severely underutilized despite proven efficacy, with substantial under‐referral of eligible patients in routine clinical practice. This study evaluated the potential role of large language models (LLMs) as decision‐support tools for screening unstructured clinical notes to identify epilepsy surgery candidates and ...

On characteristic function-based bootstrap tests [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Italian Statistical Society, 1992
Summary: A two-step method is proposed for evaluating the bootstrap null distribution function of some useful test statistics appropriate for two-sample and multi-sample comparisons. In the first step, the characteristic function of the bootstrap null distribution function is determined by recursive equations; in the second a numerical inversion by the
