Competitive level differences in basic motor skills of wheelchair basketball players: a cross- sectional observational study

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology
IntroductionPerformance in wheelchair basketball largely depends on athletes’ physical performance, particularly basic motor abilities required for efficient wheelchair propulsion and movement during play. This study aimed to examine differences in basic

Effectiveness of Resistance Intradialytic Exercise Compared to Aerobic Intradialytic Exercise for Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis commonly experience reduced physical function, fatigue, poor sleep quality, and impaired health‐related quality of life. Intradialytic exercise has been proposed as a non‐pharmacological strategy to improve these outcomes.

How do Government Expenditures by Function Affect Economic Growth? Evidence from Indonesia

open access: yesEkuilibrium: Jurnal Ilmiah Bidan Ilmu Ekonomi
This study addresses a key gap in the empirical literature on fiscal policy and economic growth: while numerous studies assess the impact of total government spending, few examine the differential effects of expenditures by function under the COFOG ...

Safety of Daprodustat for the Treatment of Chronic Kidney Disease Anemia: Final Analysis of a Multicenter Postmarketing Surveillance Study in Japan

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This final analysis of a multicenter, prospective postmarketing surveillance study evaluated the safety of daprodustat in patients with chronic kidney disease anemia in routine clinical practice in Japan. Methods Patients who initiated daprodustat between September 2020 and July 2022 were registered.

A functional classification of metropolitan communities [PDF]

open access: yesDemography, 1973
Abstract Five major approaches to the functional classification of communities have been offered. Although most of them allow the recognition of a community as specialized in more than one function, their application necessitates consideration of the several individual functions one at a time.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
