On the classification of Boolean functions

IRE Transactions on Information Theory, 1959
Two Boolean functions which differ only by permutation and complementation of their n input variables belong to the same symmetry class. Methods are described for determining the number of symmetry classes for functions of n variables, and for ascertaining whether or not two functions belong to the same class.

Classification of Current Scoring Functions

Journal of Chemical Information and Modeling, 2015
Scoring functions are a class of computational methods widely applied in structure-based drug design for evaluating protein-ligand interactions. Dozens of scoring functions have been published since the early 1990s. In literature, scoring functions are typically classified as force-field-based, empirical, and knowledge-based. This classification scheme

Functional trees for classification

Proceedings 2001 IEEE International Conference on Data Mining, 2002
The design of algorithms that explore multiple representation languages and explore different search spaces has an intuitive appeal. In the context of classification problems, algorithms that generate multivariate trees are able to explore multiple representation languages by using decision tests based on a combination of attributes.

Functional Patent Classification

2019
Patent classifications are systematically used in patent analysis for a number of purposes. Existing classifications not only shape the administrative activities of recording and reporting and the search for prior art, but also create the backbone of the construction of science and technology indicators used in economic analysis, policy making, and ...

Leukocyte classifications by size functions

Proceedings of 1994 IEEE Workshop on Applications of Computer Vision, 2002
Leukocytes are divided into classes. Their automatic classification is accomplished by means of site functions, based on two measuring functions defined expressly for taking into account the specific morphological features of the cell classes. A successful experimentation on 45 cells is reported. The original contribution resides in the use of this new

The Classification of the Functional Psychoses

British Journal of Psychiatry, 1973
Ever since Kraepelin introduced his schizophrenic-manic-depressive dichotomy in 1896, this classification of the functional psychoses has enjoyed virtually unanimous acceptance. However, the frequency with which the differentiation of schizophrenia from manic-depressive psychosis seems to present problems in clinical practice inclines one to question ...

Monotone Classification by Function Decomposition

2005
The paper focuses on the problem of classification by function decomposition within the frame of monotone classification. We propose a decomposition method for discrete functions which can be applied to monotone problems in order to generate a monotone classifier based on the extracted concept hierarchy.

Functional classification: is it functionally obsolete?

Journal of Urbanism: International Research on Placemaking and Urban Sustainability, 2015
Functional classification, the designation of roads into a hierarchy based on design and operations, has long been a mainstay of transportation planning practice.

Functional Classification with Margin Conditions

2006
Let (X,Y) be a $\mathcal{X}$× 0,1 valued random pair and consider a sample (X1,Y1),...,(Xn,Yn) drawn from the distribution of (X,Y). We aim at constructing from this sample a classifier that is a function which would predict the value of Y from the observation of X. The special case where $\mathcal{X}$is a functional space is of particular interest due
